Alexandre Mendy (transfer rumour)

He might have but he doesn't know the conversation between Mendy and the new owners
He might not, but it doesn’t mean the person he gets his info from isn’t aware. I’m sure it’s leaked he still wants to come despite speaking to the new owners. Like always though, until he’s got the scarf above his head, it’s all just speculation.

The intention is to move on 1 CB, 2 CM and a winger and get them off the wage bill completely before the end of the transfer window, so hopefully we can actually pull it off (it would mean finding buyers who want to actually pay real English pounds for them though)
I imagine the Jewi one is down to attitude as well like

It doesn't work, does it? How do you develop someone like Pembele, or Triantis on that basis? They won't get games as they are not good enough, and how often do we loan players out for them to come back in and be demonstrably better? Henderson and Pickford the last ones maybe? :) I don't see us improving those fringe players to the point where anyone will want to take them off us for a fee, under the current model.
almost all teams do it I know it is new for us

as you say those two are probably the last ones for us but I'd refer you to United and Amad, Chelsea and Gallagher (as well as half dozen they signed then moved on too early like De Bruyne, Salah etc) obviously ours are not at that level

but that is what they're trying to ape

it does work it is what almost all clubs with high performing academies do

with regards to us not getting a fee, certain we will due to age profile even if it isn't a lot and with sell on clauses

look at Lihadji, we all though he was shite but with a good agent pushing we got a tidy sum for him

even if they go out on loan and look ok, it shows they have done it elsewhere and at a level, which with their age would demand a fee

I'd expect if they go Matete and Anderson to go for more than we paid for instance

I’m not against loaning players out and still paying a percentage of their wages, if it’s beneficial to us and they’re going to come back and compete but I would just start releasing players at this stage me, get them off the wage bill. Who’s going to actually pay money for Anderson man?
A sensible solution to me is to just let them go without a fee, but with something like a 40% sell on clause. That way there's no initial outlay for the buying team for the transfer so little risk. And on the off chance some of them progress then the sell on would be worth way more than any one off miniscule payment we'd get now.

I know of 4 “fringe” players we are actively trying to get rid of permanently, none of them will be a surprise.

Then we are looking to loan out a couple as well.
We really need to. Squad is ridiculously bloated with players that won't have any impact and don't look like ever breaking into the 1st Team. They're also stopping development of U21's players before we even look at new signings
