Alexandre Mendy (transfer rumour)

That’s fine mate your opinion. I think we’re likely to see anderson, Johnson, Hjelde leave on loan. And then fitness becomes a concern

Of course. We were still not where near the valuation for him though
I wouldn't be against Johnson out on loan. I'd keep the other 2 though.

LB you have Cirkin and Alese. Maybe also Bainbridge.

As has been pointed out by several others, its the fact that you are relentless with it and the negativity. It's every single day man.

I get you're not happy, I even understand it and can relate to a lot if it. I just don't get why some feel the need to complain about it every day and get into arguments, its not gonna change anything.

My point is solely that the negativity gets really tedious and drags the place down sometimes. Aye, the striker situation is beyond a joke, I can't dispute that, but there are positives to take from this summer that need to be recognized too.

Can we just leave it there, I really can't be arsed to bicker on the internet all day mate 🤣

Positives with Bruce, he gets us an excellent appointment. Strips are spot on, squad remains a million miles short of what is needed to even remotely challenge

There must be another striker on the planet who can score, wants to join and we can afford?.

2 weeks to go, another season, no proven forward. Why are some saying it's not the clubs fault?.

Even ONE lad coming in will not be enough to push for the top, so are we saying fk it we just go through the motions?, does that make anyone who is not happy with that less of a fan?

The situation as a whole is, but this thread is (or was meant to be) related to Mendy. The delay is not necessarily their fault in this deal.

the thread long since left mendy subject in isolation.

I have no idea if we are even in for him, who is delaying, if there is a delay. but plenty are shooting the shit as though they wrote the lads contract.

There was a report in France detailing how we offered less than a million
Yes but there isn't any reports (that I have seen or can seem to find) to say what their valuation is bar a french football "expert" saying they "should" be after 4m. There was a report of them saying they know they won't get close to what they want though and might have to accept less.

I'm assuming/hoping we are already talking to multiple - the media just don't know who so there's nothing to comment on. Suppose we will find out before the window ends.

Unless we've gone in with a follow up bid after that one, usually don't expect your first one to be accepted so can go a little cheeky to test the waters.

could it be us? don't know anything at all about him bar him scoring 8 goals in 17 in the championship in 22/23. I know we like to keep things quiet

It depends on what that less is tho. I'm sure their current owner or president ( or whatever) valued him at 5m, but said they'd look to take less, that less could be around 3m. If we've only offered (reported) less than a million, we're way off.

Thats the way I see it. Mendy may want to come, but I can't see them wanting to just let a 20 goal a season striker go for pennies. We'd be going nuts if it was the other way around.

Dan Neil is an excellent footballer and Browne looks a good addition. If they can complement each other and protect the defence then great but I’m not convinced.

We will see as I can’t see a one coming in. We desperately need two competent strikers though. The owners and Speakman with his spreadsheet don’t inspire confidence and you can see why many of the fan base have real concerns.

We absolutely do need two strikers.

We have, effectively the Michael Bridges/Anthony Stokes position covered and that's it. And that's been the case since Stewart got injured. In January 2023.

We had a good defence last year on goals conceded.
