Alexandre Mendy (transfer rumour)

All your last posts on this thread is to tell people to talk about Mendy when you have nowt to say about it yourself. If threads move off in a different tangent they have went that way for a reason, if you have nothing to say about the topic just say nowt and let it run its course that way instead of butting in all the time with nonsense

This is an annoyance of mine by the way not you - just leave people to it
Na I'm alright I prefer threads to say on topic so I don't need to scroll through 10 pages of something that has nothing to do with the thread

If people want to discuss other things they can discuss it on the appropriate threads

What’s your point?

I was slightly concerned we didn’t have enough in Aug 22, as we others, there was nowhere near this level of concern, but it those of us not wumming which I’m convinced you are, or those of us who can look at things objectively, could see then we looked short upfront, and said as much, although much more toned down as in the main it looked ok.

There was the same excuses then, “there’s still weeks left in the window” etc. then stop being negative and bedwetter and all that jazz, and within a few weeks of the window closing, we had no striker as both were injured and our form went out the window.

On Jan 1st Everton recalled Simms, and the concern grew massively, Stewart then got injured and exactly what people were concerned about was realised.

Stewart then got injured against Fulham, same again, “weeks left” stop being negative, bedwetters blah blah blah, but we ended up ridiculously short. Yes we finished 6th because of the brilliance of Amad, Clarke and Roberts, but that Luton away game showed glaring holes, and had we signed the cover us “negative” folk pointed out, I firmly believe we’d have beaten them.

Onto Aug 23, and again the same craic, “weeks left” Fannies etc. it was even worse when we signed the bairns and rusyn, the abuse was ridiculous, and look what happened, last season was absolutely horrendous, not just up front but we dropped like a stone, and we were incredibly lucky there wasn’t a few games left.

The so called forward planning really came in to its own, and it resulted in an absolutely horrendous few months. All the concern was justified in this spell as a result of our incompetence over a 18-24 month period.

The penny finally dropped and the vast majority acknowledged people’s concerns were justified.

Fast forward a few weeks and a couple of Hummel tops and here we are again, stop being negative, abuse being thrown around by the likes of Nelson. It’s beyond pathetic.

So yes fears over a period were well and truly realised and it’s not just people being negative. If you can’t understand that, then like I’ve said it’s one of two things. You’re either a complete wum, or you refuse to see beyond red and white blinkers.

A brilliant post that many don’t want to accept or more alarmingly fail to understand the incompetence that exits within the club. I don't believe the club with two weeks have learnt anything I really don’t.

The last 19 games last season: W4, D4, L11 coached by a man totally out of his depth was a result of many of the points you, me and others had made from Jan 23. Why l Dodds and Proctor are still at the club is beyond me. The owner isn’t acting like one, he is overseeing a club that is not genuinely trying to gain promotion, if it is where is the quality of player that we are trying to recruit to mount a promotion challenge?

In Jan this year the clubs ambition for a at least a play off spot was summed up with the signing of a third choice Leeds defender and a midfield player from Barnsley. They in effect put two fingers up to 32k season tickets holders and an average crowd of 41k supporters and literally wrote the season off…. An absolute disgrace or as Speakman said “We will plod on”, the man who sacked Mowbray and despite so many saying otherwise appointed Mike Beale, he should have resigned the minute he was dismissed. Quote” I have just witnessed a world class coaching session”

Why have we not appointed backroom staff who are at a far higher level that will assist the Head Coach? A HC who with the greatest respect to him was at least third or fourth choice! The man sadly under this regime has little chance of succeeding hence why several didn’t want the job. The squad is hardly any stronger than last season. The lack of ability in being able to at least sign one established CF for a football club who many would say is arguably the biggest outside the PL is now beyond incompetence. Browne when asked why have you signed: “Because Sunderland is one of the biggest clubs in England, it’s a shame the owner doesn’t, can’t or wont invest in quality over the quantity scatter gun approach that has been evident since Jan 23.

We still need DCM player, a LB, CH and two forwards. Tho owner chooses not to bring quality to the football club his hope is to sign kids who he can sell on, it won’t work, the Head Coach who I think is on a hiding to nothing will be under pressure from the outset, I genuinely feel for the guy, patience will be almost zero.

Mundle, Hemir, Rusyn, Pembele, Anderson, Bennette, Embleton, Tiantis are not good enough to play Championship football on a regular basis, the squad is to heavy they need moving on ( easier said than done).Thr squad has 7 or 8 exceptionally talented Championship level players who would get into most if not all other Championship teams, but it needs some major input. You can call it whatever you want moaning it’s certainly not moaning, it’s a genuine concern, this side in my opinion has no chance of challenging for a top 2 spot. Yes we have a really good guy in Bruce, strips are great but come on we deserve some proper meaningful signings, if we don’t it’s mid table at best.

He won’t be coming now mbappe is involved I suspect, he won’t need a lot of convincing Caen are a better option

Tbh, as a few posters said last night I don't think that's the sticking point.

The sticking point seems to be taht his club value him between 4-5m whilst our bid was below 1m. If that's right, then you can see why this may take a while or may not even happen at all.

It looks like Mendy wants to play for us, so hopefully something can be sorted quickly. He'll already be a good few weeks behind the rest with no proper pre season under his belt.

Don't agree. One possibility 2 CF's. Don't need the others you mentioned
That’s fine mate your opinion. I think we’re likely to see anderson, Johnson, Hjelde leave on loan. And then fitness becomes a concern
Find it hard to believe that people can try to blame the club for the fact a club stoppped all transfer dealings because Kylian M'bappe became the majority shareholder and pulled them out the shit like. Sometimes you have to accept that something is out of your control.
Of course. We were still not where near the valuation for him though

I don't think we have any facts establishing what our bid was or wasn't. If we do, I'm yet to see them

That's true however the club have handled this lack of a decent striker situation horrendously over the last 2 years

Need a LB, CB and 2 forwards still. Better get a move on

I doubt we'll be in for another LB mate. I get you've probably got visions of both Alese and Cirkin out at the same time, but we can't just stockpile players. Hjelde was only just brought to cover there too. The bench will be buckling with the extra weight as it is.

At this point, I'd be happy with two recognised strikers in and see where we are come January. That's if Clarke is still here btw.
