I'm not saying he's not going to turn out to be a good signing, I've no idea, but he wasn't needed. When we signed him we had accepted not getting automatic promotion. At that point we have an exciting u21 team, most of whom are actually u18 level players or just over that due to, as you say, the previous regime gutting our academy.

The left back of that team is one of the most promising players. There was nothing stopping us giving him a chance. Especially when we also signed Styles who was capable of playing there as well.

I think £4m is probably too much - depends on wages as well though - the cost of the whole package.

I got told £1m plus add ons aye. It’s probably one of them ones where the add ons are all but guaranteed.
