It's not about being worried, he wont want to spend another year of his career on 15k a week in the championship when he could be spending it on, say 45k a week in the prem, regardless of Ipswich's perceived chances, if he believes he is good enough to do so.

Not sure that particular game was a fair benchmark

We were sent out by Beale with an insane strategy - play it out slowly from the six yard box against a team with one of the most effective aggressive presses in the PL

By the time we occasionally worked the ball up to Clarke he was hopelessly closed down

Plenty of other games we - and others - have seen Jack’s potential though

Still think he would be best advised to stay here next season and if we dont get promoted (hopefully after he himself has a successful season) look for a move to an established PL club

Of course he is worth 20 mil. Over the last two years one of the championship top 5 players. Look at the fees of those that have gone of a similar level to clarke

I've seen this opinion a few times but on that particular day was that not just our tactics that fucked the attacking lads?

He's worth what teams will pay for him, nothing more, nothing less. He's not a 20m player, but not is jack Grealish a 100m player. If someone comes in with 25-30m fair exchange no robbery, but we'd be foolish to let him go for any less than that with both the amount he is worth to us, and the size of his contract.

Out of interest, what other than we are Sunderland fans and desperately want to keep him to help us get promotion, is your rationale for thinking he would be best advised to stay?

Well he is happy here; in a squad of young, talented but inexperienced players; playing in front of much bigger crowds than at eg Ipswich which gives a higher profile; we are not that far from a promotion challenging squad; and have had an extended period in the PL in living memory; AND the lad seems to love it here (and we love him)

Of course if Arsenal, Man U or Liverpool came in but…I’m not sure he is that level

But can see him doing well at Villa/Everton/West Ham but they dont seem to be seriously interested yet

I just don't see any of those points, valid or not, as reasons for him to choose championship football, on significantly less pay.

Obviously you are totally money motivated mate, nowt wrong with that, but maybe Jack isn't? A lot of people just wanna be happy. And he isn't exactly on a pittance

What I am saying is that at some stage in his career I expect him to be a regular at a mid table PL club - not yo-yoing up and down with Ipswich etc

And am not sure he is quite ready yet - maybe that explains likes of Villa etc keeping their powder dry

If the likes of Ipswich are serious they will have to make us an offer we could nit refuse - anything over 28m in the current market would be my guess

agreed and add to that he been burned once by spurs and even after being immense for us, that bad experience might still flicker in his melon.
jack Clarke has a good 10 years to retire rich, of that I have no doubts, he probably knows that. but the next move will define him for the prime years of his career... hes a firm favourite here, one more good year with us and his value could increase by 30%+ and with a better team around him here... he might improve further/faster here

I'm a tractor , with low expections ( Éric Gates , you suprised me , tell me about therse high hopes and loss of reality ? We'll all hope we can do the best we can , and maybe try.....if you go up next year , which i hope you do, you can come back next year and update us on reality and the cost of reality) ?

This all over, unless we replace with quality it fucks us big time and the problem with quality is they cost a fair bit and expect good wages.
Personally I hope he’s not sold as he’s the standout player in the team so getting a replacement that provides the goals he does will be next to impossible.
I’d much rather sell a load of fringe players and use that money for a forward, to work alongside Clarke and give the team half a chance of competing next season

His personal value will improve far, far more playing in the premiership even if Ipswich end up relegated. Right now he is a top quality championship player, unproven in the top flight. He isn't going to enhance his reputation to gain a better move or value any further by playing another year in the championship, as he will still be unproven in the championship.

Only way he stays is if we turn down all offers, can't see that as that would leave us very vulnerable next year contract wise, or, as you've said, he's been burned by his previous experience at spurs
