Regis le Bris - confirmed

5m compensation to a team that’s been relegated by him? Surely we aren’t that crazy are we? Doesn’t seem right to me that.
That's what was reported, he was still under contract, so there must have been some compo, so, not cheap at all.
Maybe a tenth of that. That was his release clause, but Lorient were looking to change anyway.
Maybe, who knows? I'd be happy with a tenth of £5m, call me a cheapskate if you like..👍

I think Lorient are having to pay some compensation for the Ajaccio coach they're looking to bring in. They probably just want to come out even on the deals.

Mourinho made only 93 club games as a player
Couldn’t give a shiny sh#t how many appearances this guy made as a player…his managerial C.V is chod…10th place in Ligue 1 when he has struck lucky with a group of gifted players that were subsequently sold says nothing about his actual ability as a manger. Relegation the following season when he needed to get a tune out of less gifted players says more. Whichever way you dress this up it is an awful appointment by those in charge.

Let's give the lad a chance can we?

Understand what you're saying but who can you name that isn't going to be effected by selling their best players? Pep didn't win the league with the renford rejects, sir Alex probably the only one I can think of and maybe Brian Clough before him, maybe moyes was another one able to get a tune out of players to outperform their average of their careers but those managers are extremely rare and certainly not being appointed by championship clubs.

Under beale and Dodds the players underperformed hugely.

it really is depressing to be fair

So he played 63 games for us that season?

Actually, he played 76 games in total for us:

Aye a nah but he was fit for one he basically never played after that bar the odd comeback game

Good player but has no relevance on him being manager like

Albeit I have an old shirt with his name on the back
Schwarz was here from 1999-2003 man.

My bad sorry I basically meant one season he played every game, not enough to make him the fav is he, but aye ignore me

It's probably wise to predict bad things on here if you want to come back and give it the "I told you so". We've either been a team that loses most of It's games, or fails to get promoted for the vast majority of the last 30 years.
No body wants, or should want , our Club to do badly or fail, I certainly don't I've had enough of that. No one, that is a real Sunderland supporter will do either BUT, having seen over the years the total lack of ambition and various players, managers, coaches and owners ,come and go, this appointment (and I really do hope that I'm wrong again) has all the hallmarks of desperation by the current owner..

If these people have really searched far and wide and interviewed dozens of candidates (there words ,not mine) to arrive at the choice of this lad either shows he IS a genius (we supporters know absolutely nothing) that can get us going again OR the last roll of the dice for this owner. Based on statistics and records that have been shown on various forums he doesn't come close to being the correct person to be put in charge of the squad.

People will make up their own minds.

I'm old enough to remember Mick McCarthy losing his first 11 games here, and fans understanding that there was context that meant it wasn't totally his fault. Now we have fans making their mind up off nothing more than Wikipedia entries.

I think we're dumber than we were.
