Regis le Bris - confirmed

Ok. I’ll bite. One thing about him that struck me was the bit in an article that said:

The Ligue 1 commentator has described Regis Le Bris as a good coach with a speciality of developing young players, but a poor record of transfers.”

Maybe this was the MO. Hiring a coach who is good at developing young talent, perhaps at a continental level, and yet being a coach he won’t be responsible for signing players anyway which is a negative with him. You get the positive without the negative.
That's why they hired Beale, he had a good record with youngsters. That's not what we need at all, we need a manager who is tactically astute and can get us promoted. It appears as if all our owners care about is being a farm team, rearing prospects for ambitious teams to buy.

That's fine mate, but hyperbole like 'relegated in 50% of his seasons' isn't necessary.
I know what you mean. But it's factually correct. There isn't much to go off in his short career. So naturally the relegation is more prominent. I really hope he does well. But it feels like I'm clutching at straws when I say that. It doesn't feel like a logical appointment.

We've had manager's that have ticked all the boxes that haven't been successful. So for a manager with such limited positive evidence to do well, the chances just seem so remote.

Do some research on him. You will see he was actually doing well, 2nd in Ligue 1, beating PSG 3-1 then having his best players sold including his top scorer. Is it any surprise it turned to shit?
Who was sold and when?
He had a great run for 10 games. Then dropped back to pretty poor from end of September onwards.

It's also factually correct that he led them to the top half of the top league, something nobody has done here since Steve Bruce.

Absolutely spot on

He’s a “last sock in the drawer”appointment mate.
If he has a change of heart over the weekend then expect MD to be given the reigns again.

Sadly it seems that the owners see us as a feeder club for the likes of Brighton, Brentford, Bournemouth and the illustrious Crystal Palace.

Like most safc fans, my expectations of the season ahead are now set to avoiding relegation.

i think weve spent months trying to spend nowt and not change the coaching staff and ended up doing it anyway in desperation for someone way down the list when we could have done it for the no1, Still.
That being said lets see what type of ball the bloke plays and take it from there..it its actually him

They spent like 50-60m euros, our owners will not spend good money on players. They'll buy bairns again who might turn good in a few seasons.

That's just it. We're all expecting fuck all now so a mid table steadying of the ship will be seen as a success.
However you chose to look at the appointment we are now coming into season 4 of the 5 year plan. Promotion this season or next or KLD, Speakman and the model will have failed. Still all to play for though. Ha'way Regis lad.
