Ittnot mutually exclusive. You can still give your support to someone but have serious reservations about the process, his ability to do the job and the people running the club.

The board have talked about having an attacking, exciting and ball dominant side.

De Bris team are a low possession side that 'attack directly', When they do keep the ball it's close to their goal and they regularly get hit on transitions. They overperformed on their Expected Goals and they don't move the ball into dangerous areas often.

Couple that with the fact they've been relegated and his record is managed 76, Won 23, Drawn 20, Lost 33, scored 104, conceded 123.

Without being a complete happy clapper, What part of it makes you think it's a good appointment?

De Bris side average 46% possession just below half of the ball but that is because of the play style. They don’t waste time in attacks they keep the ball deep until a press is started then they play forward fast making distinct off the ball movement to create chances then repeat.

People see the term attack directly and assume it means long balls. A direct attack is where you get straight at the defence quickly playing killer balls. That could be a 20 yard line breaking pass or it could be the winger picking the ball up deep and running at. Full backs. Shown by the fact they averaged 23.5 accurate long balls per match. The 12th highest in the league. So hardly a long ball side.

This season the 3 best players of Lorient were sold, which is why they had the 8th highest budget in the league. It wasn’t reinvested correctly and so he had a very poor squad. Was relegated by one goal even though they smashed Claremont foot 5-0 last day of the season and lost a lot of players to AFCON.

The season before he was in demand and ultimately out of reach for Sunderland. Nice and Leeds were linked to him. Now in circumstances like this he becomes more obtainable. A relegation in only your second season ever managing doesn’t right off a manager.

So again, averages less possession than the opposition, the polar opposite of what he have been told the club want Sunderland to play like.

Again, relegated from the French top division which is a god awful standard bar four or five sides.

He's won 23 games as manager out of 76.

You also said he was relegated by one goal, it means fuck all, they were relegated. Clermont Foot who they 'smashed 5-0' finished bottom. They won 7 games all season ffs.

Lorient are a yo-yo side in France. It’s the equivalent of like a Norwich in the premiership. Expected to go down. Finished 16th the two seasons before he came in then he got a tune out of the players finished 10th and the board sold his best players. They’re bound to average less possession when they’re seen as a weak side in the league teams will get at them more
