Liam Rosenior

Rosenior spent/had spent for him a fortune and obliterated even 100% of turnover spent on wages to build a side intent on promotion at any cost.

Hull spent less on transfers last season than Sunderland who finished 9 places below.

Hull's 23/24 tranfer outlay €11.65m
Sunderland's €12.45m

Article from Phil Smith. Makes it sound like it was the clubs decision not to appoint Jansen and they are making their final choice this weeks. Sounds like Rosenior and the guy from QPR in the mix but my gut feeling is I wouldn’t rule out a surprise name getting it

Their wages to turnover was around 131%. Wages aren’t a cost?

Dice was well and truly rolled to improve their team and get promoted. We signed a load of kids then decided we couldn’t be arsed with the league in Feb.
From the championship?

Won it with West Brom.

Bit torn on this one.

Wouldnt have been my first pick and he clearly isnt the clubs either but I think its a bit harsh calling him a yes man and everyone saying he plays shite football.

Each manager has to find a way to get the best out of the players he has at the club, He kept Hull away from safety and then got them 7th inside two seasons. Theres an argument he should have acheived more but 3 out of the top 6 were already sewn up with the PL relegated teams.

He’s relativley young and left both Derby and Hull in a better place than when he took it on.

Key for me is he needs backing, He will never succeed if were just bringing another head coach in with little say on transfers.

Tbf I’d have been happy enough if he had gone the summer prior (if we had been targeting better to build on a play off place as was being reported Obsession with progression and all that) but it seemed daft at the time and would have given him till end of the season.

Even more daft now when you see we’ve sacked off half a season to potentially sign Rosenior who has a much worse record than him.
I agree about Mowbray, I like the look of Rosenior in the same way as Neil and Mowbray when they came. So I am more than happy to give him a year unless he stinks the place out. He has always been thought of as a good coach.
I also believe that we have better team than Hull apart from the forward line, as they seemed to have far more options.

900 seasons managed at this level and one promotion. Not that impressive is it?

Which shows they were far better in the transfer market. Doesn’t bode well for the lad here
People were saying Rosenior had spent fortunes but although wages may have been higher the transfer outlay was less than SAFC.

Doesn't equate to them spending fortunes and our owner penny pinching though. Even with wages, they won't have spend fortunes more than us will they?

I just can not get over this quote

On 7 May 2024, after a seventh-place finish for Hull City caused the team to narrowly miss out on the play-offs, Rosenior was sacked. Hull City owner, said that Rosenior had been sacked over a difference on football between the two with Ilicali wanting attacking football and Rosenior unable to offer that as a manager.

Can expect good football then 👍

I agree with this. I'm don't want rosenior buy there are worse out there and as deamtailed with Beale we have appointed worse in the past. Issue is we shouldn't appoint someone and think, that could have been worse. W should make an appointment that makes us all think wow, we really mean business.
Yes, we should be appointing someone that gives us that effect and sadly the names bandied about don't unfortunately. It's that old conundrum "the one's we want we can't get and the one's we can get we don't want". Therefore unless it is someone totally left field I think it will be disappointing or at least underwhelming. Just wish they would appoint someone so we can start arguing about transfers
