The Athletic: Brentford want Jobe

Potentially a top player. But we have a player with a much higher ceiling already at the club in Rigg. Anything over £10m and id take it and reinvest.

It tells you for an 18 years old kid he's done reasonably well
Wouldn't deny that for one second mate. Just cos I reckon £15-20m would be more valuable to us right now than his presence doesn't mean I don't rate him. Far from it, I wouldn't be saying he's worth that much in the first place if I didn't.

Considering he was our main signing last year, and that we shoehorned him into every game even when he probably needed to be taken out as he at times was the detriment of some performances, it would be odd to then immediately sell him

Not if we made 5x our investment back.

What are you basing that on? What is he good at?

He doesn’t seem to excel at anything in particular.

I’m not being a dick btw, just interested in how the people who really rate him see him.

That was his first full season in pro football you do have to remember, not excelling at anything's not necessarily a major issue. Think we're all guilty of forgetting just how little football the likes of Ekwah and Bellingham have actually played. Some of Dan Neil's current best attributes now were near enough literally non existent in his first season in the team.

He's very good at finding space (particularly in the box) when there doesn't appear to be much. I'd like him to be stronger/more physical/more active when challenging for the ball but when he has the ball at his feet then fair play to any defender who shifts him off the ball, it doesn't happen that often. Can be frustrating him slowing it down too much at times but his ability to hold the ball and not give it away cheaply certainly isn't a bad thing.

Could argue that his game has been negatively impacted the most out of anyone by us not having a centre forward.

We'd sell anyone for the right price.

There's only a couple of clubs in the world who wouldn't. Perhaps only one Really.

The likelihood is we'll lose Clarke as well, that's a high percentage of goals to replace.

Not really, that's clearly the plan with the lad. No intention of keeping him long term, he'd have had his minutes managed much better if he was going to be around longer.
