Assuming Still was the target at that time (he'd left Reims by then), it makes me think this talk of a random 1st June date is wishful thinking. Maybe he is close to being announced, but they must have hit some sort of an issue previously. Smart money would be on it relating to the backroom staff but who knows with us

Could have been, but Still left a week prior, so it would be strange for it to have been him, only for safc to suddenly decide they'd rather have Still. The timeline makes more sense that Still left, safc targeted him, had very positive discussions, thought it was ready to finalise, and then something late on (like back room staff arrangements) delayed it. Should stress this is an educated guess at what's happened but from what I do know (that we were near to appointing someone a week after Still left Reims) it makes the most sense

Well, that's what happened. Maric was all done till Still got wind of it and quit.
