Ship Badge to come back permanently?

Didn't Man City change to a modern version of their old badge a few years back?

Anyway, if we have learned anything from Stewart Donald, the kits are designed years in advance, so if we do change the badge after drawn out discussions with fans, we won't see the new / old badge until at least 2032.

Like the one we have now. Past is the past just let be. Find all this chopping and changing a bit classless if the truth be told. It's like our home strip, it just should not change that much so people know who we are just by looking at it.

Just why? What’s the point?

Waste of money really just to make those who can’t move on happy. The old badge looks retro, feels retro and is retro. What’s the point in stepping back? Peter Reid is long gone. Just get over it man, we play at the stadium of light now, not roker park.

Ridiculous this harking back to the past constantly.
Peter Reid is more synonymous with the current badge

To be fair the new one badly needs to change as it's horrible for online to the stage that there's a fake version that everyone seems to use. We just shouldn't be going backwards.

Agreed, the new badge has beem in use far longer than the ship badge was, it wasn't ultra historic either. I say this as someone that originally was pissed off to lose the ship badge. What will be will be.

Not really a fan of the current badge and don’t think it especially relates to the city.

Something that incorporates Nil Desperadum , “Sunderland AFC” and a ship would be ideal , without necessarily going to the blueprint of the old one

The current one is far too similar to the Magpie Saudi scumbags
Think people might be missing the origins of it

As someone else said, it was probably a hastily put together effort with an eye on the Mags

Bob was noble in his quest to not be bettered by them (wanted at least one seat more than SJP and all that)

But he was a bit of a fool for it at times

And as another person said, you could do better on some shitty 90s heraldic crest generator

Wtf did we need a Latin motto for anyway?

I don’t mind the current one, but it’s a bit of a McMansion where different elements have been cobbled together to try and make something grand but it just comes across a bit confused.

Ship badge is a clean, classic design. It’s simple and iconic, doesn’t look like anyone else’s, and the incorporation of the waves works really well.

Just go with that, or get the lad who does design for SAFC/England stuff make something new.

Sunlun supporters are widely referred to a Mackems from pundits, commentators and folk from outside the region when you tell them who you support.

It’s become an identity since the mid 90s and can’t see a problem with it personally. Anything to differentiate us from the mags can only be a good thing!
So does that make me a Mackem Geordie or a Geordie Mackem?
