Ship Badge to come back permanently?

It's too complicated and detailed for the modern style, and if we change it will be a much more simplified badge.
Fair point. I love the 'pirate' ship, though! 'It was on the good ship Venus, by Christ you should've seen us...'
We should keep the current badge but add St Mary’s Lighthouse, the South Shields weebles and Hadrians Wall, just to annoy them. Really can’t see why anyone would object to Penshaw tbh, always been associated with Sunderland. Durham mags are weird.
Angel of the North as well! It's in Newcastle, dontcha know...

Maybe the case, but its using Nostaligia, if he believes a new badge is the order of the day, why not do just that create a brand new one.
I think everyone is jumping on that the old one is coming back (personally I would be happy with that), but he says hes going to get a flavour over time of what we want? could be a new one, could be old - looks like we will decide - every single statement and press release coming from him is about putting us first (fan-centric) as hes calling it which can only be a good thing

Mining? The most Godawful job where many men lost their lives in horrific circumstances, but had no choice but to dice with death every day to earn a living.
If we're going to acknowledge our past on the badge, we should include a tribute to the miners.
I agree. I come from a mining family, so know very well how perilous the job was. I was going down the pit if I didn't get in the army. Luckily for me, I did join the army!

Isn't that just so that when things go pear shaped he can say "Well you lot voted for it......."

I'm sick of hearing about that bloody badge, ffs!
I thought it was shite back in the day and I haven't changed that view. It looks like an entry in a primary school art competition.

Either leave the badge as it is or come up with something new that's an improvement. We don't build ships, we make cars and in a year or two, films! Stick a Nissan Juke and a film camera on the badge! :p
Couldnt disagree more - absolute bullshit, its quality and it encompasses everything of what Sunderland the town was - you should be proud of it not embarrassed

this is a fella who has spearheaded all the MLS marketing campaigns with huge success - lets hope he knows what hes doing

If we were to hark back to a bygone era, surely 1936-37 (or earlier) would be better - when we were a real force in English football.
That's my favourite and, as you say, is associated with success. I never liked the ship badge and it reminds me of a mainly miserable period for the club.

I'm sure you're right - I'm just a born cynic.....

Bizarre post.

Firstly, please don't make shit up - I never said I was embarrassed about our shipbuilding past.
Secondly, it's an opinion about an art design. You can disagree, but it doesn't make my opinion 'bullshit'. Art is subjective, and I don't like the design, OK?

For me the ship badge is blah to me, the current badge I look at it and think of Phillips Quinn Roy Keane, Cisse, Steed, etc etc, it's who we are the current badge also has 3 league and other trophys along side of it.
