Nothing looks more cheap than the present one imo. Just a load of shite heraldry that many hoyed on badges in the 90s and the majority then got rid of.

We need something far simpler for branding purposes

probably the least important issue at the club at the moment. how much are they going to waste on this shite?

the use of the old badge is very clever marketing currently, taking advantage of the popularity in retro kits etc.. but its just a passing phase.

I went to both and want to go back to the SAFC letters from 60s and 70s (was born in 86 so it's not really nostalgia, just looks good)

I really don't like the new one to be honest. Cluttered and doesn't really stand for anything in particular. Think it's really dated when you see the way others clubs/ design is going.

The old one has the a nod to working class heritage of the area, while being far simpler in its design.

Spoken to plenty of people who work in design/ marketing/ arts over the years (as well as other fans) and our old one is generally incredibly well received by basically everyone, with the exception of this place when the topic frequently comes up. Genuinely assume it's just people not wanting change.

if they are allowed to design a new one it will be utter shite. it'll clearly be AI generated with a black cat and a ship of some sort with block colours and very loose relevance to the club and city. it will look outdated within 5 years. just leave it alone

i believe this current badge is the longest we've ever had the same crest in the history of the club, just leave it alone

Prefer they simplified the current badge. Think the old one looks incredibly dated and not that special to go backwards to. Current design is busy and very intricate, so simplifying it makes most sense imo. Or blend the two and have the main body of the current crest instead of just red and white stripes on the old one

Eh? Where have I said that? Other than Boro, Chelsea and Bristol City, I’m struggling to think of others who have anyway.
Man City had a circle badge years back and reverted to it - because the 90s shite isn’t good for branding.

Even in the lower leagues and overseas now. Having a heraldic style is actually more original nowadays

the old one is great, but thats exactly what it is. an old badge. the club are being very clever in using it for merchandising and retro kits etc.. but thats how it should stay. we currently kind of have two club crests. its great. just leave it alone
