CC : Durham v Essex

5th consecutive score of 50+ for Robinson, wonder what the Durham record is for that
He's got 6 in FC cricket. One for Lions in his streak.
Got nothing against the young lads who are on the stream comms, they are doing a decent job. I would prefer if they spoke more about the game rather than conduct continuous interviews with the various guests.
They did interviews a lot last year even without the clubs own commentary feed.

Just with it being first actual home game a deluge of it.

I've been away today so haven't heard just giving input.

Hopefully a good score today anyway shall default opinions to those having seen the play.

I would prefer Marty in there as well so there was a mix, marty is good on the cricket ball by ball stuff.

It wasn't so much of a criticism about having interviews, it was more of a preference of me to hear some stats and detailed discussion of the game taking place.

In the first half of the day they had interviews with the groundsman, North and Campbell which whilst interesting, was mainly about progress over the winter and potential England selection rather than the action. So hopefully it was like you said a first home day of the season thing.

I don't envy the lads on the stream as whilst they did a decent job, they have big shoes to fill in replacing Marty who is one of the best on the County circuit.

We are in the game

Feroze Kushi and Porter actually play at my home cricket club (a few games a season when available)

Essex missing a few players. Noah and Duke barely played any CC if at all, Browne was dropped to the 2s and has not scored any for them so get a few wickets early we could roll them

Looking at the scorecard that looks like a competitive and entertaining days cricket.
Making my first days cricket at the Riverside tomorrow and its a quarter of the way through the county championship.
I take it its a hats and gloves day for the over 60s.

Good day's cricket. As others have said I would have taken that score when we were 11/2.
I thought Ackermann applied himself superbly and thoroughly deserved his century while it was wonderful to see Robinson and Bedingham in full flow.

Mind you I have to say that ground is turning into an embarrassment - two stands without seats in and another out of bounds leaving spectators to shiver in the shadows of the Don Robson. Toilets with no hot water and one with an overflowing trough, announcements on the PA as the bowler is running in, members unable to get yearbooks as 'we've run out and the supplies are locked in a cupboard which we can't access"

I often think that the club would rather like it if all red ball matches returned to being played behind closed doors.🤔

Your final paragraph i said the season we returned after covid. They realised how cheaper it was to put on a 4 day match not having to cater for the people who attend. The season starts with t20 blast as far as the facilities go.

I would suggest full winter mountain gear, thermal vest, layers, padded trousers, big coat and don’t be embarrassed by taking a tartan blanket as I did today 😂

With half the ground closed it makes it more difficult to “follow the sun” as it moves during the day. I like to sit somewhere different each session but it’s no good if 50% of the ground is out of bounds.

In all the years I’ve been going there’s a lady who always sits in the same seat in the County Durham upper smaller section for the whole days play. I noticed her in the rear rows of the Don Robson so I suspect she wasn’t over impressed

Aye the Don Robson for the final session sounds like a challenge in these conditions.

If it's the lady who wears a sun hat and has a small suitcase with her today I was sat a few seats from her and she wasn't happy. As already mentioned stuff off the field is bordering on embarrassing. 700 membership cards yet to be sorted, yet it's almost May, I had to show last year's card to gain entry which itself is embarrassing. Half the ground closed off again, toilets inadequate with piss over flowing and lack of hot water. A tannoy system very few could hear. By all accounts numerous stream issues yet last week I watched a cracking stream from an outground yet an international ground continues to serve up rubbish. They ran out of membership books due to demand... What were they expecting??? Many parts of the ground need a lick of paint. It's really not good enough

Aye, that’s her. Sat in the same seat every match I’ve ever attended but unable to access it today.

Durham sounds as bad as SAFC. Shocking what north east sports fans are served up given the passion we have for cricket and football.

It really boils my piss tbh. I feel like this sort of shit wouldn’t even be tried in other areas of the country, but it’s like the plebs in the north east can just be taken for granted.

About the season cards. Your existing card should have been reactivated. The washout game our cards worked when we were scanned in but did not yesterday. The Steward on the gate said it was a software issue. The rest of your post as you say was a shambles no announcement about the stands being closed. Apparently it was due to a couple of the glass panels dropping out during one of the storms and they have not got round to do any repairs yet

We will heading straight to the lower section of the family Stand to make sure we get the sun in the afternoon if it is still shining of course
