UFO's

Not sure what your point is, he probably has a gym membership as well. It shows that people of a very highly qualified background is taking the subject very seriously and can see that there is something in this.

A few years ago he and others would have been scoffed and ridiculed for taking this seriously but there is a definite shift in the subject.
He's a podcaster trying to get clicks.

Eric Weinstein is a Mathematician, Economist, and a frequent public speaker on a variety of subjects within the sciences. Currently, he is Managing Director of Thiel Capital in San Francisco and was formerly a Co-Founder and Principal of the Natron Group in Manhattan as well as a Visiting Research Fellow at Oxford University in the Mathematical Institute. Since completing a PhD dissertation in the Mathematics Department at Harvard in 1992 he has held research positions in Mathematics, Physics, and Economics departments (at MIT, Hebrew University, and Harvard respectively). He delivered the Special Simonyi Lectures at Oxford University in 2013 putting forth a theory he termed “Geometric Unity” to unify the twin geometries (Riemannian and Ehresmannian) thought to ground the two most fundamental physical theories (General Relativity and the so-called Standard Model of particle theory respectively).

Within Economics, Dr. Weinstein has focused on a variety of topics with an emphasis on foundations. In the early 1990s he introduced Gauge Theoretic methods into neo-classical theory with Co-author P. Malaney. More recently, he has called for an Economic Manhattan Project to return the field to sound fundamental thinking with the stated goal of making it interoperable with its related scientific sibling subjects. In 2008 he co-organized the Perimeter Institute conference on Economics to this end during the financial crisis bringing together experts from a variety of fields to focus on improving the scientific status of economic theory. In Finance, his research with A. Abdulali on valuation perversities for Mortgage Backed Securities appeared in Risk in 2002 and was among the earliest in the literature to call attention to the dangers posed by such illiquid securities. In the area of scientific innovation, Dr. Weinstein’s work has taken the form of economic history, laying much of the responsibility for the problems in attracting Americans to Scientific and Engineering careers at the doorstep of leading scientific organizations engaged in the manipulation of labor market signals to trainees and entrants. In the related area of labor market theory, Dr.Weinstein’s 2002 paper published in the ILR called for and constructed a canonical Coasian market solution to problems of immigration.

As a public speaker, Dr. Weinstein has frequently championed scientific risk taking, the importance of self-taught scientists in their role of connecting fields, and the need to limit academic credentialism and rent-seeking behavior from hindering foundational breakthroughs in basic research. He has recently started to experiment with long form interviews on alternative media like podcasts and YouTube interviews as a means of discussing economics and other matters both in depth and at scale

He left the hedge fund in 2022 - why are you using out of date data?

No idea why he left or if it had anything to do with:

<< On April 1, 2021, Weinstein released a draft paper on Geometric Unity in a guest appearance on the podcast The Joe Rogan Experience. Weinstein qualified in his paper that he "is not a physicist," but an "entertainer" and podcast host. It received strong criticism from some in the scientific community. Timothy Nguyen, whose PhD thesis intersects with Weinstein's work said what Weinstein has presented so far has had "no visible impact" and "gaps, both mathematical and physical in origin" that "jeopardize Geometric Unity as a well-defined theory, much less one that is a candidate for a theory of everything." >>

Joe Rogan is, of course, the go-to place for announcing scientific stuff that you want to be taken seriously.

PS << Weinstein qualified in his paper that he "is not a physicist," but an "entertainer" and podcast host >> Oops ;)

PPS: << Weinstein left academia after stints at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.[citation needed] Weinstein was invited to a colloquium by mathematician Marcus du Sautoy at Oxford University's Clarendon Laboratory in May 2013. There he presented his ideas on a theory of everything called 'Geometric Unity'. Physicists expressed skepticism about the theory. Joseph Conlon of Oxford stated that some of the predicted particles would already have been detected in existing accelerators such as the Large Hadron Collider. Science writer Jennifer Ouellette criticized the colloquium in a blog for Scientific American, arguing that experts could not properly evaluate Weinstein's ideas because there was no published paper. >> Ha ha

What's any of this got to do with UFOs or 'inter-dimensional' travel?

What are his thoughts on the economic aspect of UFOs anyway?

He has a PHD from Harvard, link below to Harvard's website, you can search for his name yourself

Probably some anti UFO forum you could join mate. A year on here and never commented on the footy or team once. Odd.
Wow imagine being that rattled that you've dedicated your time to search my post history for a gotcha moment
I don't give a shite about football these days and this forum has many different sub forums to keep me entertained.
So thanks for your concern but I'm alright right here..
A year on here is the account and not the poster, are you addressing me or the account?

Yep it’s not reliable at all, it’s like me going on the UFO wiki page, editing it to say they exist and then posting it on here. The deniers would be up in arms about it so not sure why they’re using it as a source now.

Try it, lets see how "easy" it is to edit wiki with random information on an established subject, show us how easy it is, prove it.

Wiki is trying to be a reliable database on the internet, it's not perfect but it far superior to Joe Rogan as a source of good information.

So go on then Grimes, try and edit the UFO page, go on, show us all how unreliable it is!

Very strange post

For what it’s worth I’ve looked at the UFO wiki page, I’d have to create an account wait 4 days complete 10 other edits then I’d be allowed to edit that particular page. Hardly Fort Knox.

I won’t be replying to you again mind I usually ignore your replies like after how personally vindictive you were on a thread when I asked for career advice. It really affected me, you’re an out and out bully.

Genuinely interested. Tell me more…
The post on the previous page with a link to footage was pretty much exactly like the one I saw. Silver shimmering/spinning disc with a dark/shadowed underside. Moving slowly, stopping on a sixpence, moving ultra quick, disappearing/reappearing. Considering this was about 1986 or so, if this was some kind of experimental aircraft being tested... well its forty years later and we still can't perform these manoeuvres to this day!

You.

Your idea of entertainment is hanging around in topics you disagree with and sniping at people that want to discuss it. If you and the others were vegan, you’d hang out in Bacon topics making repetitive ’meat is murder’ comments that no-one cares about too, no doubt.
I bet if there were a ‘UAP is all bullshit’ topic none of you would post in it either.
It’s the attention from strangers you all crave, despite adding literally NOTHING to the conversation and can only get it via negativity. It’s a bizarre, but ultimately tragic way to carry on. I don’t get it.

Where abouts was this?

I was bored one afternoon at work a while back, so did some data scraping and created a dashboard with an interactive map showing global reported UFO sightings with the time/data/shape of UFO etc (probably unsurprisingly — the overwhelming majority of reports were from America and California in particular, and a significant number were near military bases). If anyone is interested or bored enough, I’ll stick it on Tableau online so people can have a play around with it.

Gateshead. My mam spotted it first and we were just baffled as to what it was. I just thought it was some kind of remote controlled toy at first being a naive teenager back then, but obviously what it was doing proved otherwise.

Aye, from my own investigations into this, Gateshead is certainly not a renowned UFO hotspot.

You.

Simply not true.. Read more and assume less.. Very open to discussion about it, the fact i dont agree with you doesnt stop it being a discussion.
I bet if there were a ‘UAP is all bullshit’ topic none of you would post in it either.
So by that logic you shouldnt be posting in a thread where you think they are real either? i know logic doesnt appear to be one of your strong points. If your going to come back at me with ad hoc points at least make sure they dont refer to yourself aswel..

Your on the same forum as me, you want a virtual reach around everytime you post another crappy video or some half baked bullshit that ultimately comes to nothing conclusive..
And i disagree about adding nothing to the discussion, if anyone is guilty of adding nothing its you believers..
its 61 pages of unestablished claims and nonsence..
I don’t get it.
Judging from what ive seen on here im guessing that follows you about..

Nothing strange about it Grimes, you claim Wiki to be easy to manipulate and an unreliable source of information but already found it is not quite that simple.

If/when you do eventually try to edit it, you will find it's even tougher than simply verifying yourself and posting but of course you don't know that, you guess at everything, you speak constant diarrhoea.

So much for those UFO-ers who are claiming to be "open minded" - look at you, chastising anyone who disputes their claims - ignore and berate characters instead of the points of view raised - absolutely typical of those who are fanatically religious zealots about their own beliefs and not as they claim to be, open-minded, open-minded my arse !!

Just dispute the words with words instead of huffing and "put you on ignore because I'm too delicate and unable to discuss my point of view using basic debating skills" that attitude speaks volumes bout those of you who use that particular strategy.
