Can’t get my head around the fact Southampton wanted to buy him and didn’t anticipate this in the medical. He might not play another 20 games in his career but the lucky bastard managed to get himself 30k a week somehow.

We got £10m for him, he got a massive increase in pay on a longer contract. I would be surprised if he didn’t have a good idea that his injuries would mean that he would not play much more. So it looks like this was a win for us and for him. He was on peanuts before we signed him and not much here, so he was not set up for life and his new contract should make him and his family comfortable.

It's proved to be a good deal for both us and Stewart, he'll not get a big contract again and it was his first of his career so can't blame him for that.

Gutted for the lad. Loved watching him. Buzzing for him he managed to get his bumper contract. 30k a week for 3 years (can’t remeber if it was 4 years)…. 4.5 million. It’s basically a lottery win.

Get well soon but if he doesn’t he’s safe in the knowledge he’ll never has to work a day again in his life.

Thnk fk for his sake he left his 3k a week contract
