Why do you keep buying it?
Because I keep being told on here that it’s improved, what a mugWhy do you keep buying it?![]()
Not sure about breakfast but pubs wise best bet would be a route from where the likes of Chaplins is near Park Lane, down Green Terrace and Low Row then up High Street West towards the Peacock. Pick any selection of pubs/bars along that route and you can’t go wrong. Only decent bar at Park Lane is Port of Call so I wouldn’t bother with that area personally unless you really fancied Port of Call.Decided to head across early on Saturday for the match and have a few pre match beers in town.
Thinking about a spot of breakfast somewhere about 10 and then on the beers anyone got any suggestions
Haven’t been in Sunderland centre for donkeys as drink near the ground on match days.
I drank most of it.Get it down ya man![]()

No one says Merrills is good any more. It was years ago but was taken over by the usual suspects. Same as Gills. Not sure about recently, but at least they used to have posters up of Mr Gill holding a huge silver platter of fish and chips. If you read the information underneath, it did say that they try to source cod but an alternate would be used (basa or pollock). Thats why nowadays I always ask for Cod and chips wherever I go ( apart from B&Q, Greggs, Flannels etc) before any smart arse interjects. I always keep away from places that do pizzas, kebabs etc as well as fish and chips. Humbledon chippy on Ettrick grove a prime example. Used to be canny when it first opened but got taken over, added more to the menu and went from a 9/10 to a 3/10.If you can hang onto 11 then I'd recommend the fish shop on Blandford St where Greggs used to be, its an actual hidden gem. Cheap and portion sizes are massive.
People always bang on about overpriced places like Merills and other Gills fishy's being the best fishy's in Sunderland but this ones an actual contender as its cheap and portion sizes are around the same.
