ODI World Cup


The decision making is woeful and we seem so one dimensional. Sounds like todays wicket needed a careful and conservative approach and we came out flaying and reckless. We only seem to know how to play one type of game

That's why it's hardly suprising, I don't think we realise just how good they were in their peak scoring 400 regulary for fun and which was unheard of and hasn't really happened since.
Arguably the finest ODI side of all time.

The decision to drop Gus needs answering for, mind.

So frustrated with Woakes, but we all know he’s only good in England so why don’t they consider this? So many poor decisions made. Take your in-form players and play them. Tom Curran is in the form of his life, no one will convince me he wouldn’t have outperformed 95% of the current team
 
Just speaking personally, but the 50 overs format is a hard watch for me now, we watch so much short format games now, it's hard to switch back up to 50 overs.

I was going to say that with the clocks going back at the weekend the India match on Sunday starts at 8.30 so make sure you get up early. But I don't think anyone will be doing that now.
 
Who/what could have made a difference.
Roy at the top
Jacks, Duckett, dawson, ahmed, Archer

Then on form
Bairstow, Root, Buttler, Livingstone, Woakes, Wood

Probably our worst world cup campaign ever

The whole go hard and then go harder attitude is great on hard and true pitches. Not sure how anyone thinks it can work all the time in all conditions, and this lot haven't adapted.

Possibly not but at least Stokes was short so expect a pull, and Buttler a full ball to drive, Where Bairstow just a good back of a length ball no idea what he was trying to do with that shot.

There is underperforming and underperforming and this has been unprecedented in the sense of the expectation of good side we thought we had.

Not sure what your point is as no other top international players from all countries are playing 50 over domestic cricket or very little of it, all the top players or most in this competition have been are playing franchise T20, but have still adapted their game to 50 overs in this competition miles better than we have.

Unless you saying 120 balls prepares you for 50 over cricket and 100 doesn’t?

It certainly hasnt effected Klassen in this competition the fact he played in the hundred?

I don’t see the connection between the two as don’t see it relevant as other countries top players for example Klassen and Conway played in the hundred and have performed in this competition.

Klassen in particular has been superb in this tournament despite recently playing in the hundred.

It’s the players themselves surely that have to take responsibility for their sub standard performances and not adapting like players from other countries have.
