Well, our despair and the general decline of the format are two different things. But I must admit that my faith has been broken.

Agree with most of that.

But Buttler wasn’t picked because captain, he was picked because he is a great player simple as that.

Buttler had to be picked, he is our best white ball cricketer ever, and no one pre tournament would have thought or suggested not picking him.

Tbf Buttler been horrendous as captain.

But more than enough in the bank as a player/batsman to be given a new contract as a white ball cricketer as a player that not even in dispute surely?

He's had 5 failures with the bat and made a couple of errors behind the stumps.

When a team is struggling you need your best, in form players playing. Brook scored 66 a couple of games ago. Atkinson got 2 wickets and 35 runs. Both were dropped for out of form players.

Although I think what is true is that if those two results happen, India and South Africa are definitely through. Certainly, one of them would be as they still have to play each other, and I think the net run rate differences are such that it’s probably now impossible to get enough of a swing for them not both to be through.

Buttler has been our best white ball cricketer in this country ever, so was always going to be picked.

Had a crap tournament but surely his previous performances over years and years justified his inclusion.

Agree with you regarding Brook and Atkinson but other players should have been dropped to include them not Buttler

Pretty much the top 4 confirmed with this result. What a shit format with two and a half weeks of this group stage still to go and we already know who the semi finalists are already going to be.
