Craft Beer

Mosaic (purple clip) and a NZ IPA (red and yellow clip). Both very pleasant (can't recall a bad one from them tbh).
I can’t remember a bad one although some of the stuff he puts in his porters should make an awful beer but I think the porter on its own is one of their best. I like the snake eyes ipa and the one with ekaunaut in it

Can't post pictures but I've just opened a can of Stewart Brewing White Affogato coffee milk stout and it's nice but it's the colour of lager. Never had a stout that isn't black before!

Haven’t seen a white stout knocking about for a while now. Didn’t realise until you’ve posted.

In general they weren’t very good, or not to my tastes, but there was the odd decent one. Think it was Siren did the Caribbean cake range & a white stout was one.

Also, think it was Vocation that did the Affogato stout that was up there with one of my top Untappd check ins.

White stouts do work occasionally but they're not something I have much interest in. Mostly they miss the deep roastiness a stout needs and most of the ones I’ve had ended up tasting more like coffee pale ales and not really hitting the mark for me.

In the Ivy House, nice and busy which is good to see. My pint isn’t very nice mind.
I haven’t been in the Ivy House in weeks. Swerving it tbh. Had my fill.

I’ve drank in there for years, yet still almost completely ignored by the staff in there. Zero craic. Totally refuse to engage. One particular member of staff (I think we all know who) actively avoids serving us and refuses to engage point blank, if you do get served it’s like it’s a f***ing chore.

Compared to say the isis where the staff always make time to talk, always welcoming.

More options coming to the town, they need to think this through. It takes a fair bit to stop me going to a boozer, but they’ve managed it.

Anyone got any thoughts on the vaux subscription boxes? Probably going to sound like a right moaner but out of the 12 beers only 4 were vaux. Rest were made up of beers which some can be bought in the supermarket. Want to support them but it's not really ideal. Took about ten days from payment for it to be dispatched too

Much as I like Vaux I didn't bother with this. One or 2 shit beers, or even good ones where I just don't like the style, and it's an expensive way to try new stuff.

I just wait til I'm running low then either do an online order somewhere or pop to Rehills.

I get it, although DHL are holding it hostage at the minute. I’ve had boxes that were purely Vaux when they brought out 3/4 new beers very quickly. Might just a quiet time for new brews.

Thing is they've just brought out a load of new cans - so was expecting a couple each of those. Like I say I want to support them but i'm getting to the point where it makes more sense just to order what I want from them instead

Think I’ll be making a brief appearance in the Isis tonight. The Wear Beer & Darwin stouts are supposed to be on, so I’ll grab them, but think I’ll do a few halves so I can get a few different ones in. Any recommendations on the none stouts they might have on? I’m not particularly bothered about sours. Im talking more pales & IPAs I’d miss out on if I went for my normal gear.
