However common sense should have prevailed the ref should have had a word with Neil and said look son you've been booked it's almost half time any more lip and it's a second yellow

The issue is other players won’t been booked for dissent today particularly if they play for a top club.
Without knowing what was said at the time i was fuming at Neil. If it's true what's being reported It's a diabolic decision. You can 100% guarantee players swear at the ref every game. Ballard did it later in the game.

I’ve got no problem with the sending off IF it is consistent across the league. Happens every half in every game, no booking, I’d even go as far to say Ballard did it straight after half time, Hume did it at the same time as Neil. Book them! That’s better than cherry picking when someone says ‘that’s a *****ng foul’ versus another that’s said the exact same.
The best example is what sky should that Hume is berating the linesman as much as Neil the ref but only one yellow card. I thought the idea was dissent against officiating not your little man syndrome.

Exactly. Neil was fifteen yards away and said it once by the look of it. If the ref has half a brain he tells him to can it or he's in the book. To bring the card out straight away was nonsense.

Players would not normally be booked for swearing. More likely he swore at the ref.
