Forthcoming gigs.

U2start.com mate
Hope you made it - can't imagine the stress for such a momentous gig. Are you US-based to start with, or have you travelled from the UK? You'll have to tell us what it was like!

I'm rubbish at keeping up to date with tour news - only found out about U2 in Las Vegas earlier this week. Dream gig for me - so I've just booked tickets and flights for me and my wife for the end of October/start of November. Ripped off with admin fees on a US tout site but still cheaper than Stubhub and Viagogo. We're arriving two days before the gig, to allow time for delays or travel issues.

The venue looks absolutely incredible - a far cry from me seeing them at Newcastle City Hall on the War Tour in 1983 :D We were last in Las Vegas in 2001, so I expect we'll notice a few changes about the place.

I'm based in Farringdon 😀. We'd already booked hols for New York and San Francisco when this was announced. Tickets were on a lottery system where you had to apply for dates you were prepared to go to, but you would only get one night. We were booked to arrive in SF on Thursday so we applied for the first 2 nights and won them for opening night. So we booked flights and hotel for 1 night in LV.
Then it started .... got to JFK on Thursday and I'd left my passport in the hotel. Had to ask the hotel put it in taxi for me but it didn't arrive in time so we missed our connection. Couldn't get another flight until Friday morning, so we landed in SF after our LV flight had left. We booked another flight through online travel company from Oakland to LV (extra cost🥵) for Friday afternoon which should have got us to LV at 5.20 ... 1 hour later we got notification that it was delayed by 2 hours (couldn't have made it up!!!). Got to airport and the airline had no record of our booking 😯. Had to rebook the flight direct with the airline and pay again. While we were waiting to board the confirmation came through from the travel agent... so we were booked on the flight twice at double the cost. Spent 30 minutes on the phone to the agent arguing about paying them, had to settle on a $50 cancellation fee to avoid paying the lot. Dreading the cost of that call when I get it. Boarding started at 5.15pm for a 5.45 take off. Thanks to some f****** moron at Southwest Airlines who couldn't make up his mind about who should board in what order we didn't take off until 6.10pm. Stewardess said it was a 60 minute flight so I'm thinking we've got a chance. Sadly she didn't mention circling LV for 20 minutes so we didn't land until 7.30. Taxi to hotel to put bag in storage without checking in a ran round to the venue .... looked a lot closer on google maps.
Back to SF later today for 1 night then down to San Jose to see Motionless In White on Sunday night.

Venue is unbelievable. Bit weird to have a vast enclosed space above a gig. Acoustics were amazing. Band were fantastic as usual even with the opening night glitches. The graphics/screen has to be seen. We had GA tickets and there was loads of room on the floor. I think the floor capacity is 1 person per square yard. Safety comes first but it means only half the floor is actually occupied. Oh, and $8 for a bottle of water.

All that stress and extra expense makes me wonder why I'm coming back to see 2 more gigs in December 🤣🤣.

Enjoy yourselves when you come over.

(Bet you wished you hadn't asked 😉)

At least it will be memorable.

Got that Freya ridings at nx tonight, not a big fan of hers one or two songs are canny but she's got a distinct voice that I find interesting wanted to see how it transferred to a live gig. She gives me Florence and the machine vibes which is always a plus.

Hurt my reading that like

I’m in Antwerp now. Dexys are playing tonight. I’ll asses the situation later & see if I’ll go. I’m ruined with drink

Gathering Sounds yest in Stockton, some superb bands, great little venues - cracking day out for £25
Even managed to sneak my 14 yr old daughter (no) into Skinner Brother in Ku late on - utter utter carnage but brilliantly entertaining to watch (if anyone has seen them before they will know!)
Other shoutouts to The Molotovs (punkish band with great look), The Clause (chance of making it big imo, some great songs/sounds) and 2 opening bands that were really good in a small venue, Lock-In and Colombia.

Oh shit forgot to mention one of mine and daughters fav bands at the minute - The Stanleys, brilliant as always as nice guys very humble when talking to them and gave my daughter a setlist.

And just to complete a manic 36 hours in Vegas we had the pleasure and thrill of an aborted landing back at San Francisco Airport last night 🤢🤢
