Russell Martin has Ross Stewart as his main target **Transfer confirmed **

I think part of the problem is we as a fanbase are not used to other Clubs wanting our players so I suppose the model or whatever it's called these days is working....but now the money has to be invested back into the team before this window shuts ....please

Love it when a player moves and we smash his new club next time we play them.....can't see it happening on Saturday tho 😞

Nah

Good servant can't blame the lad or the club for what's happened.

Il blame the club for not replacing him but not for the deal they've negotiated or throwing a big contract at a crock

Is it? Whats stopping Rusyn from scoring the same amount of goals as Stewart? We won't be spending £10m tomorrow if that's what people are hoping for. Waste of time selling players for profit if we then punt the lot on a replacement.

As things stand, £10m plus Rusyn is decent IF we believe Rusyn is the real deal. A striker on loan would be good to see now. We'll see.
I’m not saying we spend 10m but the rusyn signing was already required. If Stewart is going he needs replacing.

It is. I always thought the club would take £8m for him as soon as it was becoming obvious the contract was an issue. To get a bit more is good but only if very well reinvested. He’s a major loss and with him and Amad not here from last season, we’ve a nigh on 30 goal hole to plug in the space of 24 hours
I'd have said, once Southampton came in for him, and then before they started the painful process of just offering a bit more, and then a bit more...make it clear what the fee is, and that there is an immutable deadline, which is at least 5 days before the window shuts. It just clears out all the BS, and doesn't leave Sunderland flailing around in the last 30 hours, looking desperate.

If that indeed is the model, that means we’ll be consistently weakening our current squad in the hope that players come good further down the line. That’s not a recipe for promotion mind.

We need two players to come in now and replace what Amad and Stewart brought to us. If we don’t, we’re in a weaker position than we were last season and that’s regression.
No its not, because the other assets we have brought in will be much further along in their progression than they previously were. The rest of the team improves, then after s year the replacement for RS, is hopefully a better player than him.
