Russell Martin has Ross Stewart as his main target **Transfer confirmed **

Stewart has had 2 long term injuries with us. During that time we have looked after him and paid his wages. Time he showed a little bit of gratitude and repaid that loyalty

And he is in the last year of his contract as a PROFESSIONAL footballer

He will be looking for the best contractual terms for next season either here or at another club

Given Southampton have not only their parachute money, have raised £150m(?) in transfer fees this window, still obviously have a stronger squad, and would weaken a promotion rival by buying LND it would not be a big surprise would it

Question is how much would we hold out for and who could replace LND?
No the question is ,why would Southampton want him if he is crocked.Tell them to pay a decent fee or f.......off

The market rate for Ross Stewart at Championship level - which, by definition, is what a championship club is willing to pay him.

The market rate for your house is whatever someone is willing to pay for it. In fact, that’s the market rate for anything. That’s what a market is.

So to spell it out again - if he goes to another championship club for (by definition) the championship market rate, and we wouldn’t match it despite us being in the uniquely fortunate position of not needing to pay a transfer fee to keep him, then it’ll be very alarming and frankly disgraceful.
I normally agree with you with regard to our penny pinching but at this satge I do not think it is wise to offer Stewart a long contract with relatively hig wages. If he comes back and starts scoring goals and is fit then yes. The problem I have is believing that even in those circumstance the club will meet his demands

The club have offered what they think is fair to stewart I assume and he thinks it’s not good enough. No hard feelings that’s just business.
Whether saints want to buy him before he’s back from injury and up and running is anyones guess as its a risk for them. It’s a risk for Stewart if he comes back and breaks down again with only 9 months left on his contract too.
may well be this drags on till January and if Stewart gets back to fitness it could well be the club takes what they can or Stewart just winds down his contract and leaves in the summer for free.

either way we need at least one body in this window for the striker role regardless if he stays or goes to cover any further potential injuries.

im guessing we will get a striker in on loan before the window shuts, the club maybe have one lined up but are waiting on the Stewart situation to see whether we can buy one instead of loaning….but we do need someone in as there’s no guarantee Stewart if he stays will be upto speed straight away

we will know in a couple of days which way all this unfolds anyway so not even gonna stress about it now and wait till the window closes

Sounds like the opening monologue Frankie will do on Speakmans next PR podcast.

It’s incredible how far the apologists will go now, to prop up their chosen narrative that we’ve suddenly reinvented the way football works, in the face of reality. It’s getting a bit sad.

Didn't you spend about six months of last season moaning and moaning, only to disappear once we got into the playoffs?

He's leaving either way so I'd rather take the money in this window rather than trying to replace him in January or going for free next summer. I do wonder if the Rusyn money is coming from this sale though which would explain how long it's taken.
Where is the Lihadji money then
