Stuart Broad retires

Not if this England set up has got anything to do with it marra.
They are single handedly saving Test cricket. And I believe Stokes commitment to it will go way beyond his playing days.
Broad and others will join him in that.
The last couple of years of England Test cricket equals or exceeds the excitement and fun of any T20 or 50 overs cricket.

Based on what?!

So it’s about 1300 wickets between Broad and Anderson

that’s incredible really and I think that will be the top pair for possibly forever as tests are going to be played less

Thank you for everything, Broady.

Some bowlers seem to have stellar averages. Broad’s was good, but not great.
However, he produced truly great moments. Moments of sheer brilliance and exhilaration.
He will be a huge miss.

On the amount of people who are re engaged with Test cricket since the new regime took over. And how the cricketing media are reacting to it.

What does that mean mate?

England regularly play tests in the same few venues that attract the tourists. Barbados, Antigua, Cape Town, Wellington, Galle, Kandy etc. The home team want them there cos it's a good earner for their association.

But that has always been the way during winter tours mate. No different now to days gone by.

They'll end up shortening series and dropping the venues where nobody turns up, especially the locals (exacerbated by the franchise game). Last Saffers tour was 5 tests, that'll be whittled down to three. Windies used to be five tests with every country getting a bite of the cherry on rotation. We're down to three now and I don't think we've played in Guyana or T&T for 20 years and Jamaica for about 15.

Thats got nowt to do with holidays though man.
Thats more to do with the attraction of the format.
Thats what Stokes is trying to improve. To make Test cricket exciting again, and they are succeeding in that. Nowt to to with holidays as you said.

Got quite sad about this one.
Followed his career from just before his England call up, felt like we still had another year or 2 before this.
leave them wanting more i guess.

thinking back on past England players i've grown up watching the end of their careers

Vaughan, S Jones, Flintoff, Swann, Giles, Prior - Injury
KP sacked
Trescothick, Trott, Monty- Mentally fried
Strauss, Cook, Bell, G Jones, Read, Collingwood, Hoggard- Form

only Harmison really went out by his own choice with something still left to give (Cook hit a great 100 but partly because he was finished)
I wonder if Anderson will do the same now.
McGrath and Warne style in Sydney
