Disney world Florida

I costed disneyland up a few years ago and it was coming in around 10k for 2 weeks for flights, hotel, tickets, estimated food/drink spends etc. Really wanted to take the kids but couldnt justify sacrificing 3 or so years of other more normal holidays to do it. Whats the cost of it overall standing at these days ?
Booked for may 2024 for 14 nights:
2 adults 2 kids (7 & 0)
£2k for flight and hotel
£1.6k for Disney only tickets
Also look for cheaper airports to fly into. My mate uses Tampa and drives down. Book things individually as opposed to a package will save you loads too. Food wise don't buy food in the parks or drinks. Take stuff with you as a beer was around 8 dollars last time I was at universal.
Packages at minute are cheaper than doing individually. Well were last week.

For two adults and two kids, you could probably do two weeks for around half that if you use all the tricks in the book.

Going in school term time for example :D
Not really.
It's a grand each just for flights and Disney tickets.

Suppose there's some cheaper package deals sometimes

Do they still do dining plans? Went earlier this year and couldn’t see nowt about that. Great holiday but aye when you’re eating in the resort most days it will cost a small fortune for a family of 4. We used to get Uber eats deliveries to the hotel some days and yeah worth taking some food in

No, but they're returning next year.

I`m buggered for cheap deals because the missus works in a school so no out of term hols for us. It was years back when I looked probs 3 or 4 but fairly certain it was 3k or so for the flights, about 1.5k for the cowboy type on-site hotel and another 2k or so for the tickets. Then I figured I¬d probably need another 2 or 3k or so spends . Fair enough , not 10k but not a kick in the arse off

Scottish schools go back earlier in August so look at flights from Edinburgh and Glasgow.
Could also look at going via Amsterdam with KLM/Delta.

I should add, the plan was actually free as well when we booked the hol which made it even better

Is magic kingdom still a dry park or has it gone like Paris and can get cans? Though did feel wrong drinking Heineken while queuing for rides.

You can get alcohol in the restaurants but not to walk around.
Not worth drinking with the prices they charge.
Get a good insulated water bottle and top it up with the free iced water they provide. Saved us a fortune in drinks.

Guess I’ll save my boozing for round the world at Epcot.

I was there last year. Our lass and the boy (12) Cost us £6k for the flights and hotel - 10 days in Loews Portofino hotel (Universal). 14 day tickets to Disney and Universal was another £2k and we spent about £3k on food, drinks, Ubers when we were there so overall a very very expensive holiday. Whilst a great experience for my boy I would not repeat that again in a hurry.

Its far from a cheap holiday that's for sure and personally, I don't think repeating it very often is a good idea anyway (irrespective of the cost).
Will be five years since we were last there when we go in the summer. Not doing Disney at all so that's a big saving, but also it will be different this time as the kids are older so the thrill rides will come more into things (the ones they don't chicken out of anyway 😂 )

I agree, it was an amazing holiday and one that my son will remember forever but just not something I could do regularly. Not even about the money either it’s just the intensity of the whole thing. I would go back in maybe 5 years and probably do things slightly differently. Wouldn’t waste time at the Disney parks and just do Universal and maybe spend more time in other parts of Florida and do more “chilled” activities that constantly at theme parks.

I haven't been back since just before lockdown. The prices are stupid now.

It used to be about £6k-£7k including flights for the 5 of us staying on site with character dining every day and snacks included.

They're just taking the piss now due to having a load of demand caused by missed holidays during covid.

Mind, we're looking at crazy prices for a decent 4* all inclusive somewhere like Mexico/Cuba these days. Having a family of 5 is an absolute killer as there's really rooms for 5, so you need a suite or 2 rooms

That's exactly what we are doing this time. Universal for 4 days (onsite) is enough. Going to have a day at Busch Gardens and a day at Seaworld. Lots of down time planned to do whatever we want.
Rest of the time will be doing stuff in around Clearwater (boat trip on the Gulf, go Kayaking, watch an NFL pre-season game or maybe baseball game etc).

That's the one thing Disney is decent for.

Plenty of rooms for 5 and when free dining was on it covered everyone in the room.
