Disney world Florida

I don't mean to be rude about this, but, um...what is the appeal? I'm American, have kids, and the idea of going to Orlando - the sphincter of Florida - and paying a lot of money to be crammed together with a bunch of disoriented sunburners and a bunch of people in sweat-inducing costumes seems like rather the opposite of a good time.
We love Florida and not just for the theme parks but the waterparks are class is is places like clearwater the keys

My kids love The characters and theme parcs as well

We used to go mainly for the rides and theme parks. Always had a good time. Throw in boozing and everything pretty much within half hour taxi or bus it’s ideal. Not sure if how it’s going to be now I’ve 2 kids going but I’m giving it a go.

Where are these places and are they cheaper ? haha
All over - Pennsylvania, Ohio, Virginia, for a few. You can do Busch Gardens Williamsburg and Kings Dominion in Virginia on consecutive days, no Disney fees involved.
There's nowhere in the world that has 8 or so world class theme parks in one city.
While you watch the rides from the lines.

Disney are quite good at making the queue part of the experience on their bigger attractions
Don’t get us wrong, I’d rather not queue but a 2 hour queue at Disney is more bearable than a 2 hour queue at Alton towers

Aye we’re booked up for next summer, bairn will be 4. She’ll love it like
You’ll end up carrying her around in 80-90 * , but she’ll enjoy it apart from height restrictions on some rides.
Looking forward to our trip in August to Florida, but we aren't going to go to any Disney parks this time.
Universal, Seaworld (won't be watching the shows mind and wasn't even keen on paying for tickets but gave in to the demands to go for certain rides) and Busch Gardens will be what we do. Spending some time in Clearwater along with just looking to chill by the pool at a Villa for a few days instead of park after park.
If you want to watch the lads gan to Murphy’s Bar near top of International Drive .

Get yourself to guest relations. Tell them one of your kids suffers with an anxiety disorder and you'll get fast passes for the whole family. I did it (was genuine with my Crohn's) and it got us on everything we wanted to go one. Universal was the same too. You don't need to provide proof to them either. Little white lie could save you a lot of queue time.

I costed disneyland up a few years ago and it was coming in around 10k for 2 weeks for flights, hotel, tickets, estimated food/drink spends etc. Really wanted to take the kids but couldnt justify sacrificing 3 or so years of other more normal holidays to do it. Whats the cost of it overall standing at these days ?

This.
We ruffled up TT Jnr's hair, told him to look a bit vacant and hey presto - fast(ish) passes.

Disneyland as in Paris or Disneyworld in Florida?
If Florida you have to accept it will cost you 3x years worth of holiday, but if it is once in a lifetime so worth it. Most people will spend £10-£20k on a car that is worth half as much in 3 years, so just buy a cheaper car.

Florida mate, we`ve been to the Paris one. I`ve never spent that much on a car either  think the wifes last one was an all time high (pre pandemic) at about 12k.

Cars are probs a bad example tbf as they arent really my thing, I just like ones that dont look like shit and start when I use them. Wouldnt even say we badly off tbh either , not rich by any stretch but enough to do most things we want to do but the sacrificing of 3 years holiday is a step too far for me

For two adults and two kids, you could probably do two weeks for around half that if you use all the tricks in the book.

Going in school term time for example :D

Also look for cheaper airports to fly into. My mate uses Tampa and drives down. Book things individually as opposed to a package will save you loads too. Food wise don't buy food in the parks or drinks. Take stuff with you as a beer was around 8 dollars last time I was at universal.
