Steve Cotterill

Create a vacancy for Philips to look at?

Feels like he did a good job with Shields and left to look for something bigger, might be a good next rung for him.

A lot of people assumed he'd get the Walsall job but they've gone down the ex-player route with Matt Sadler. (They've also gone down the manager's surname about as close as you can get to the club nickname route.)

Does he still scribble on scraps of paper? He was out of his depth as Wilko's lapdog, but so was Wilko as Sunderland's manager.

He's done ok at a fair few of his clubs, and a good job at Shrewsbury. The Chairman's statement is implying something so damning Cotterill won't ever work again. I suspect it's nowt of the sort.

Theyve just brought in a new Director of Football from Cheltenham Town, he obviously wants a hands on job.
Reckon that's got a lot to do with it.

From Jeff Stellings twitter feed:
"Jeff....he walked. Fell out with the Chairman. He wasnt sacked...new football board and direction means he isnt compatible with the vision moving forward."

When SKP left South Shields I thought he must have his next job lined up. Took him years to get started as a manager but he will quickly be forgotten if he does not find another gig soon.

He's done a decent job wherever he's been (apart from SAFC where he was under Sgt Wilko obvs).

Maybe he wanted Shrews to kick on from a decent last season and the club weren't up for it...
Made Aiden O'Brien their big money (in wages at least) summer signing. Played about 5 games for less than 90 mins scoring 0 goals, farmed out to Gillingham at the bottom of league 2 on loan, scored 2 goals in 14 games, and likely won't play for Shrewsbury again.

They probably have Flanagan on decent money too. Can see the purse strings being tightened.
