the way they make money from football is indirectly., its netwroking...meeting the directors of other clubs etc hekpsd their main businesses..thats what the wets ham owner sullivan said..he said that while hw wont make any money directloy..he has made a fortune from football because of the contacts it brings..Why are some people desperate to be involved in football?
He's not a fan of Sunderland of Charlton.
It's nearly impossible to make money from football unless you asset strip.
He didn't exactly come out of his Sunderland experience looking good and it can't have be nice for him being seen as he is.
Why go though it again?

Always the risk of the bairns being kidnapped too.You could be onto something there.
But yes I agree with your sentements. There are only 2 reasons I could think of and that is ego and money.
I am Sunderland daft. If I was a billionaire I may give some money to the club but I certainly wouldn't get involved in the running of it.

the chap that opwnes valencia said the same thing..
the ruebens that own a share of newcastle and previously QPR the same..because they keep a low profile despite being vasytly wealthy..they felt they were missing ouyt on opportunities more high profile but less wealthy people were getting...and thats why they want the profile raising that football brings..
thats why they all do it..being a fan of football doesnt come into it..
He's desperate to be fully involved in a club. Probably feels he wasn't as involved at SAFC in the real decision-making as he'd have liked. So much of it was decided by that talentless cretin, Dicky Hill after all. Got to wonder about Charlton now, though. Methven's whole schtick about lower league player only getting short contracts was a big part of the rot that was at the base of Madrox SAFC. Charlton have an academy that really punches above its weight. Could well see that getting rinsed to keep the lights on. They've managed to get some really good deals for young talent in the past, but to get there they've actually played them in the first team - and not hawked them out from the U15s to other academies. Why are some people desperate to be involved in football?

Reading the comments, the poor Charlton fans seem oblivious to what a cretin they're are getting.
Maybe we get Leaburn as compensation for the stolen parachute payments.

they do that as well of course,,,vut if you are in the hundreds of millions if poiunds category as sullivan is in..or sartori...its not sufficient..But surely there are easy ways to network than buy and run a football club!
Donate to the Tory party, go to a fundraiser etc
the fact the pair of them couldn't be seen in public north of Scotch Corner should be taken into accountwell he and donald were bad at a lot of things../.but the league would look at it and say, he left when SAFC were in a higher division thsan when he bought in and backed by wealthier people..
Been a fan since the Darren Bent days. Went to a match once but can’t remember who against.Gonna check their message board a new member...."kildareaddick".
why does that matter? being a popualr owner doesnt make one a good owner.the fact the pair of them couldn't be seen in public north of Scotch Corner should be taken into account
it does matter in that football clubs aren't designed to be financial investment instruments as they have attached to them real life supporters as customers and secondary stakeholders who have to be managed. If the way the club is being managed, even during positioning for a sale, is so abject that customers start to kick off the owners have dropped a bollock either through through poor execution or poor comms (in our case both) . I wonder how many times they tried and failed to shift the club before the price became right for the boy wonder KLD ?why does that matter? being a popualr owner doesnt make one a good owner.
i did..shows jhot little i know about methven and his intentions!
“In truth, I had never even heard of Mr Mansour, and have no intention of becoming an exec at CAFC or anywhere else for that matter. I know Thomas Sandgaard a bit ‐ I met him when Sunderland played Charlton a couple of years back and he had just taken over ownership."
Became the problem.excatly..his primary fucntion is utiling his contacts books of the very wealthy..the problem at SAFC is that he chose to try to run the club..which he wasnt any good at really..and that became a problem.
