What's best for spending when abroad? We have always been cash takers, but want to take a card this year to use. Mind you where we are going (Greece) still like a bit of cash for "tax purposes" :lol:

What's everyone's experiences of the above, and yes we are getting old so it needs to be simple to use:lol:
 

Revolut has always worked brill for me just load cash on and use you can even transfer money by apple pay these days.

Chase i think is different as its an actual bank debit card where as revolut is a pre paid card

Yeah. I should have expanded on it really. I pay £15 a month for their premium account which comes with a rather lovely metal bank card, and provides travel and mobile phone insurance, and lets you use the card abroad for no extra fees. I used it all the time last year in Florida. Not a bother.
 
Chase don’t charge any fees when using your card abroad, and they’ll apply the current exchange rate too.

If you’re thinking of getting one, you’re best off doing it before the 8th May. You currently receive 1% cash back on literally everything. This rate reduces to new customers on the 8th

Can you use it in the U.K. ok bud? Some of the benefits look canny

I don’t need a main bank account, just something to use oversees that doesn’t cost a fortune to use in exchange rates.

Maybe I will go for one and our lass the other. Will take a look at Monzo too👍

Monzo has annoying limits and/or fees if you don't meet some minimum usage criteria. I now use Chase instead.

Yes mate. It’s just like a regular bank but online. I pay money into my hsbc account and then just transfer across if I need it. But I’m sure you can set it up to pay your salary into. The only downside is that there’s a limit to how much actual cash you can deposit into it in a month, which screws me a bit as I work for cash, hence the hsbc then transfer route.
 
Starling world debit card via a current account works for me, after a bit of similar research I decided on Starling. Easy and quite quick to apply, set up onto the phone and receive a physical card, load the account with what you need and you're off. To be honest they all seem have decent reputations and customer feedback, but I'm more than happy how Starling works for me.
