Anyone currently positive?

Are many people still testing if they have cold/flu symptoms?

I tested once when I had symptoms and was negative and once when I had symptoms and was positive. In both cases my response was to cancel stuff that would have meant infecting others.

But I get the impression that a lot of people aren’t testing now and are assuming that they have covid and either are or are not isolating as a result.

I say this as an ‘impression’ because emails from various social groups and regular meetings I attend suggest that some people are getting a bit complacent about passing it on, and I’m a bit more aware of my personal risks after recent advice about my ‘vulnerability’.

I only did because someone I was at a do with tests regularly and got it - combined with me sneezing and that…
Been in the house for three days now and am getting bored! Don’t feel that bad now either but todays test is still positive ffs.
I presume you’re still supposed to isolate? @Frijj

People get on planes every day not knowing they have infections...you cant put your life on hold for a virus that is killing less people than vehicles.

OK. My wife and I are considered ‘vulnerable’. Not associated with age, just to do with diagnoses that I won’t go into it.

We have to just get in with our lives of course and mix with people and do the normal stuff. But there are things that we, and the medical professionals, need to do if we are infected -with anything, not just covid.

Ok, so my point is that OF COURSE, we recognise that people are very often unaware that they have an infection. They wouldn’t deliberately infect someone else, who, for all they know, might be impacted more greatly than themselves.

But I don’t understand, nor do I appreciate why someone who KNOWS they are infectious would blithely carry on and potentially harm others.

And I’m afraid the reasoning ‘everybody else is doing it, so I’m going to be as irresponsible as them’ doesn’t really cut the mustard with me.

I hear your argument / angle, but one person not taking a plane because they know they are infected will be offset by the people that do not know they are affected...350 passengers in a confined space with recycled air is a risk millions take without a thought. We need to remove fear and sentiment to calculate risk.

That’s a specious argument, in my opinion, supplemented with something that isn’t, imo, relevant. You either know that, or you’re misinterpreting my original post or you have totally different perspective on the matter than me. Bearing that in mind it’s probably pointless discussing it further.

I’ll leave it there and wish you well.

Anyone know if its possible to get covid 3 times in 6 months?

I've had it twice since August 2022 and was in close proximity with someone on Monday who has since advised me they have it. Started feeling absolutely dreadful a day before they told me however testing negative atm.

I have a friend that has managed that, though all three have been feeling crap for two days, then nothing.
Felt like shit Weds and Thursday , tested positive yesterday after waking up very heavy headed . Feel right as rain this morning . Very strange
If your immune system thinks the virus is not a serious threat, it won't react and the virus will fuck off...hence the quick recovery...it's the battle that's the painful bit.

The Mrs has it, I haven’t tested positive.

I’ve had it twice, she didn’t test positive either time.

Logical conclusion is that we aren’t susceptible to the same strains.
