Forthcoming gigs.

Parked in the Stephenson bit. Didn’t get there until about 8:10pm.

Thought it was fantastic like. First time I’ve seen them (5mins from a balcony, 2 floors up at the Sage at the 6music festival doesn’t count). There’s fuck loads happening, visually & sonicly. Everybody is interesting to watch, they’re all singing or playing an instrument individually but together. Even the drummer looked mad as fuck.

Definitely won’t be my last time.

By the way, when somebody asks me “what sort of stuff do they do”. How do I answer that?! I’ve just sent people to YouTube
Agree with all of that! Not my usual 3 skinny white boys with guitars kind of act but visually and musically stunning. I’ve just tried to describe their music to work but couldn’t!

It was a topper gig, and nice to see a complete lack of dickheads at a gig in Newcastle for a change.
I was surprised how old the crowd was. Thought there’d be a more student population in attendance.

Also, for a (predominantly) black band, I didn’t see a black face apart from on stage. I’m guessing that demographic might change a lot if you compared London to Newcastle, but it did occur to me.

Got my tickets for Eurovision today. Tuesday afternoon, the dress rehearsal for the first semi-final. Down on the Monday morning, hotel in the city, train back up after the show on Tuesday. 👍🏳️‍🌈🇺🇦🇬🇧

Everyone looked like what I imagine a 6 music listener to look like.

So, according to the Boiler Shop Facebook

“Fusing industrial bass with rap, gospel and drums, last night’s sold out Young Fathers gig was a mesmerising live experience, with support from Callum Easter.”

Going to see my friend's band on Friday 17th at Little Buildings in Newcastle, if anyone fancies supporting local music. They're called Flightless Bird.
