Kicked off SAFC land for protesting against digital

The other blatant reason they are doing this is so people don’t pass on season cards to friends or family when they can’t attend. They think it means they will sell more tickets to games. They won’t. We have six tickets across the family and it’s rare all six can go, we normally ask another member of family or friends if they want to go, especially the kids. Some of the younger ones have then loved it and pestered their parents into taking them again. We’ll not be able to do that now so they’ll not go to games as they only went in the first place as there was a feee ticket to use.

.. They shouldn't agree to games being moved for Sky. Fucks up my Saturday attendance 😒..

If it’s like any of the digital versions I have used you can send and share tickets with whoever you like.

It will be a QR code so you will just need a screenshot

.. Also, if you have tickets for others on your phone, or someone uses your phone, they wouldn't have a clue about who is attending..

I'm still waiting for someone to come up with benefit of season tickets on phones.
Other than phone nerds thinking it's a good idea purely because they love phones, what are the actual advantages?
For most normal people it's just a hassle, with the added risk of missing matches due to failures/losses/breakage of devices. On top of this it makes it harder work if you have kids or totally inaccessible for older people. Added to that the issue of longer queues etc
It just seems madness.

Pros:
You can send tickets to anyone instantly if you need to pass it on.
Less unnecessary plastic waste (granted, it’s not a huge amount, especially if they’re re-used season on season)
People are less likely to forget their phone than their season card.

Cons:
On occasion the QR code hasn’t appeared or the app has had a glitch and I’ve had to get in touch to sort it out.

I’m not exactly a tech evangelist and I think moving everything online is harmful in a lot of ways but I really don’t see any downsides to this one. Other than not liking change, or being against the principle, i am unsure why you’d be against the idea.

It really feels like people are whipping this whole thing up to something it really isn’t.

1) the club are reducing their overheads to make the club more sustainable. Less admin = less overheads = more money to spend in other areas

2) it sounds like the old fashioned methods still available according to @Guinness Guzzler

3) for the admin costs how different is this to concert tickets where you get charged for paper tickets and postage for the extra work on involved in this.

The same posters who constantly criticise the regime are constantly chipping away, I feel like we’ve one of the most modern forward thinking owners for a while and some fans are constantly undermining them.

Yes they’ve made mistakes and the PR is crap at times and this whole digital ticket thing could have been handled infinitely better but I’m all for cashless and all for digital tickets (with alt methods)

Hopefully it will be (although banking app prohibit screen shots, so they can put a scanner in the works)
However going by what they said in the press release around security, speed etc, suggests it won't be QR codes because its contradictory if it is.

Point 2 " sounds like", but little evidence

Last 2 lines. Good for you.

You can share a qr code no bother, it’s essentially just a picture on your phone. If anything it’s less secure than sharing your physical card cos people can pass your Qr code on without you knowing.

There will be a canny few over 65 who have never used a smartphone. My dad is one. If I chose not to renew then he'd be knackered to get in with a digital ticket.

Some QR codes can be unable to be screenshot though. So it has potential to be harder than you think to send it. I think it'll be fine though and genuinely don't think they're trying to catch people out.

What's the benefit then?

Everybody is going to have to work out how to download the ticket, as well as these wallet things. It's added hassle.

What makes you think that?
Work out how to download the ticket ? Do you mean the people who can't have it on their phone ?
90%+ of the fans will have it on their phone its a win win for everybody except the tiny minority who for whatever reason don't have a smart phone and the club have said they will be adding support for them.

they should have seen how this would end. Come on man its so easy.

Invite him for a chat in black cat house and come to an amicable agreement or agree to review. You don't have to give away anything apart from time..

We used to be such a caring club, even when we were shite.
