No striker. Speakman. No holding midfielder. Speakman....and it won't be forgotten.
Yes we have no striker, Speakman is to blame for that, but we have defenders and are able to put 11 lads out on the field.
Yesterday's performance was down to tactics, preparation on the training ground and team selection. Speakman does not control those things.
That performance was unforgivable.
Ok.He said he didn't believe in our project as much as he did theirs, which is telling in itself.
This would have been an ideal time to blood Matete in CM. The CF situation is absolutely farcical. Lucky Speakman has a fair bit good will in the bank or more would be turning on him.No striker. Speakman. No holding midfielder. Speakman.
Speakman would argue there's Gelhardt and Ekwah. Both are kids and not yet up to it. The model is great up to a point. But any side needs a little bit of experience. Every club in the land probably the world has more than 2 professional strikers at the club.
Both O'Nien and Ekwah have looked more combative in CM than Neil and Michut.Who did we buy to replace Evans in January, asking for a friend?
Ok.
Why's it telling?
Ekwah in his limited cameo appearances looks raw at best, O'nien was signed by the previous incumbents, careful or you will be burnt at the stake by some on here. Both O'Nien and Ekwah have looked more combative in CM than Neil and Michut.
Fair enough mate. Its quite clear we have been left very light. My point is that in the last three, possibly four games the biggest problem (along with the striker situation obviously) has been how week the midfield has been and that is what needs addressing. You are correct that Ekwah looks raw but we clearly need more physicality in there. We can go to our graves saying we haven't replaced Evans or its a crime that we didn't sign a striker which is all true but we have 11 games left and we need Mowbray to somehow change it round with what he's got.Ekwah in his limited cameo appearances looks raw at best, O'nien was signed by the previous incumbents, careful or you will be burnt at the stake by some on here.
I meant Mowbray picking the team not you. He needs to stop moaning about not having a striker, I think we all know that
It doesn't matter how Tony sets the team up, other teams will press and use their players to bully us in to submission . I'm afraid it will be rinse and repeat for the remainder of the season. We just have not got the players in our squad to change this, especially up front and in midfield.Fair enough mate. Its quite clear we have been left very light. I don't disagree but Mowbray can't raise the white flag like that. With his experience he should be ideal for jolting them out of this in some way. They are young lads and need some help and guidance. As others have said we need to get what little experience we have on the pitch. O'Nien should be played every game and not at LB. Except we haven't have we.We’ve already shown previously that we can win games and at least compete without a Ross Stewart or an Ellis Simms.
I’m sorry, but the manager and the players are to blame for yesterday’s performance, no one else.
Again, members on here will be lighting their torches, some wanted O'nien gone in the summer, and to say he can play in midfield is blasphemy. I agree with most of what you are saying, but Mowbray raising the white flag? Come on, he can only play the hand he has been dealt, we just haven't got the players to do it.I don't disagree but Mowbray can't raise the white flag like that. I am not having a go a Mogga. You basically said that anything suggested won't change it as we don't have the squad. That is effectively raising the white flag whereas Big Tone needs to keep thinking of better ways to get the most out of what he has got. We do have plenty of excellent players but the gaps are horrendous.Again, members on here will be lighting their torches, some wanted O'nien gone in the summer, and to say he can play in midfield is blasphemy. He's tried in games, games where he has thrown Alese and Batth up front to try and help Gelhardt. He actually was playing Roberts in front of the back 4 at one point yesterday. If he had been given the tools by the club I think we could be easily in the top 6, however he wasn't and the rest of the season will be damage limitation.I am not having a go a Mogga. Weve largely done that against better sides away or earlier on in the run of lack of strikers. Teams on par with us or who are powerful weve struggled with no out ball, or when the onus is on us to attack with no real striker our main threat is on the counter that's why most of our best results this season have came on the road. We’ve already shown previously that we can win games and at least compete without a Ross Stewart or an Ellis Simms.

Look at ppg with and without strikers.
It's chalk and cheese.
Yes I’m afraid it’s looking that way for you. All the posts are so familiar to his 4 seasons in the champs at Rovers. Mids playing at full back, top scorer playing as a “wide forward” etc etc but don’t worry you will pick up a couple of points from your next 7 but then hammer anyone in your last 4 to make it all look rosy and boding well for next season. He can’t help himself changing a winning formation for whatever reason. Very strange. It is simply his normal February onwards collapse, happening now for the 6th season in a row.
