Striker situation

Let's hope there's more to come from Gelhardt but he hasn't shown anything so far.

There's no getting away from the fact the club failed by leaving us with only one centre forward for the rest of the season, and an unproven one like that.

It’s not his fault. He’s being asked to play in a position that he just doesn’t play in.

At no stage in his career to date has he led the line. At no stage is he a goalscorer.

But that’s fine - Speakman was quick on to the airwaves after the window shut, to reassure us all that our team doesn’t need either.

It was unforeseen that he would end up as the only striker so don’t think fully blaming the club’s recruitment is fair.

Not saying Geldhard is a bad player and probably shouldn’t be leading the line alone but it’s the situation we have found ourself in. That being said though, so far he has shown his finishing to be nothing short of horrific and that’s only down to the player.

On a positive note, we are 5th in the table, certainly not where I thought we would be before season started. Unlucky not to win today but the team is good enough to be in playoffs, still confident we will get a play off spot.

I think it was a terrible decision to only have Gelhardt as an option but that’s not why we didn’t win. We actually looked better in the second half and I think the season is going to be too short for Gelhardt. He gets better every game but he’s still way off the pace.

It's like a broken record on here, lad.

Absolutely. utterly pointless raising this every time we drop points. Everyone knows we are short up top, some think its outrageous and the clubs fault, others think it was rank unfortunate but everyone agrees we are short of numbers after Stewarts injury. Everything has been argued, everything has been said. Just got to make do with what we have which is a group of very talented footballers brought in by some outstanding recruitment.

Yet had he finished those chances today we’d have been flying

He will get goals imo
