Current state of the SOL and surrounding area.

The small things like broken hand dryers and leaky roofs should be sorted. The match day experience shouldn't just be about football. Jet washing or painting the exterior would certainly give it some life.

Service not good at the kiosks ... WBA game went down to concourse for a couple of bovrils exactly on HT whistle, did nothing but queue, brought them back up and had missed the first 7 minutes of the second half.
And the crowd wasn't that big. Won't be bothering on Boxing Day.

By brother was on about this to me the other day. If we had the money would be a great idea.
It wouldn’t be cheap, but it’s cheaper than building a whole new concourse. It would also create a more open and wider concourse and allow us to create a ‘new’ stadium experience at a reasonable cost.

This is part of the issue, it’s such a clart on I, and I would guess many thousand others, don’t even bother trying to buy anything at half time.

Yes but…
would you spend £30 to stand in a cold crowded concrete area?

If the confessions are franchised what difference does it make to the club what the revenue is (other than at renewal time) ?

Well they would need to negotiate a deal that works for them both , the stack for example make a good amount from rents and then take all the drinks sales - key is getting good numbers there for good hour , couple hours before ko , if the offering is there people will come earlier rather than rocking up at 2:45 and spending nothing and then also spend at half time. £30 is easy spent on food and some drinks in around an hour so surroundings don’t need to be anywhere near spurs level, and the example of getting people to spend even £20 woukd make huge difference

Whilst I agree - this is exactly the same at virtually every other ground also?

I think would be the main advantage. You could have places to sit in the middle for ya food and drink.

I think the SOL was built just before things like the ‘match day experience’ became important. It was obviously an improvement on Roker Park but was still sticking to the principals of the old style English football ground where people came in to mainly watch the football after socialising elsewhere.
Modern grounds try to combine the match with the social aspect to maximise revenue, so we need to change something to accommodate that or we as a club are going to lose out on millions over the course of a decade or so.
Sitting having a bite and a pint with your mates in the ground prior to the game is what the club need to provide for.

When the stadium first opened we used to go into the stadium for gates opening have a few pints and catch up, but it was to cold for my dad so eventually we just started spending our money at the New Derby and getting their bus up.
