Harry Kane

My feeling is that mentality plays as big a part as technicality. 7 minutes from time, we mentally put the pressure back on the keeper if we swap. There’s no proof that the second kicker is weaker mentally.
Apart from the fact he’s the second kicker. And is therefore by definition not as good mentally and technically at penalties

No mate, top players bury pressure penalties! He's on 200k a week and practices them every day against the actual keeper! Top forwards don't sky them mate!
Messi has missed penalties. Mbappé has missed penalties. Top players miss penalties
He's taken two penalties in the same game for England before tonight on three separate occasions, scored all 6.

@Cridge
More evidence it was the right decision

Professional footballers don’t change their mind. He went the same way and put too much on it.

It didn’t help that it was his team mate.
That’s why I think we should have changed kicker.

It was the right call. The pressure is magnified on the new taker, with people wondering why the lad who smashed the first in doesn't take it. Although in this case if we'd done that and missed Southgate would've been blamed.

People forget he missed the crucial penalty in the Denmark semi, because of the rebound.

Lad has won nothing.

I’d still have put my mortgage on him scoring, but him not leaving Spurs has cost us there. We don’t have enough key players who have won silverware in knockout tournaments. Henderson, TAA, Mount and that’s f***ing it. Winning stuff makes you calmer in those moments.
Foden, Stones, Walker, Rashford, Shaw

I can hit the inside of the post on the way in, every time, I'm 40 and I'm fat, if England's best forward, on 200k a week can't tickle the inside of the post we're always going to be finished, no excuses for missing the target altogether mind! None.

Yes, but when you take penalties it’s against other obese, talentless people.

You or I Will never know the pressure of taking a penalty in a World Cup quarter-final.

Is that with your fat mate in goal down the park or in a world cup quarter final? and no you can't hit the inside of the post every time 🤥

Mate, if I'm earning 200k a week, I'm burying penalties all day! I'm a fat bricklayer from jarra, and if you give me the chance of taking that penalty, I'm tucking mate, you can have the French behind the goal waving their customary white flags to put me off, but I'm at least hitting the target mind! And if I know the keeper, even easier!

Every time, without fail, and to scale it up, I'm not on 200k a year, never mind every week, if it's your job, you've just been sacked!
