How Good is our Squad?

Worst case scenario is if you go up and are relegated you are £100m better off…you can’t pick and choose when you get promotion..trying to do that is utter folly. Go for it. Our better players won’t hang around for too long if we don’t reach the top flight pretty soon, that’s a fact.
Who do you think are our "better players" who wont hang around ? Many better players are on loan anyway and even Ross Stewart might not make it in the Premier .

Just think at the moment we are a decent Championship outfit but still well behind Burnley.

This must be a two/three year plan .

At the minute we're mid-table, maybe next season, if we can keep the majority together and add little more, we might make it up

I think we have a good squad with amazing potential.

Need reinforcements to take it onto another level but when you take into account the average age of the squad we're looking very strong.

Playing at its peak at the moment. Honestly think form will drop if it's not strengthened.
That’s a typical safc fan of many years would be my guess ( I kna what you mean -when things look like they are turning corners for the better only us can Horlicks it completely up !)

i’d say the only dead wood is dajaku, hasn’t been great this season
He won't be even on the bench if the other SIX forwards/wingers are fit 🤫
Great squad put together by that recruitment guy..... what's his name 🤔😄
It's a top 6 squad in this league.

Top 2 come April/May 😏
We are currently W8-D6-L7 with some would say no forwards for a while and terrible injuries to key players.

25 games to play I recon with a near fully fit squad we could go W15-D5-L5 .... end up with 80 points ....safely in the playoffs (from last season Championship points tally) a bit better and could push for top 2

*forever the optimist 😂

Gooch/Hume/Huggins - Ballard/O'Nien - Batth/Wright - Alese/Cirkin
Evans/Michut
Neil/Matete/Ba - Pritchard/Embleton
Amad/Roberts - Stewart/Simms - Clarke/Bennette/Dajaku

I'd say it is outstanding to be fair!

So many different options, different attributes and barely any deadwood! With any potential incomings going forward it has got to be quality over quantity now.

It feels worlds apart since we fell into free fall
What ever it is at times this season it’s the best I’ve seen us !

I don't think we're anywhere near our peak. We still have players who are arguably our best, in their respective positions, who are getting back to fitness or back up to speed. If we strengthen, (which I think we will), we'll be challenging for top two: if we don't, then I think we'll still comfortably make playoffs, barring another injury disaster.

We're nowhere near our peak, man. 😎

Good quality striking and central midfield signings and possibly an experienced right back would make automatic promotion a realistic possibility.
This ,i think weve got enough up front but obviously another cant hurt for cover . The strong midfield pivot and the right back would see us control games against the better sides that come with a plan . Gooch is too easy to target at RB and we can get over run physically in the middle if Neil doesnt fancy it . We need to break the young or free policy just once for a 30 -32 yo midfield boss.

^^^^^This is 100% correct

On our day SAFC can beat anyone in this league... but.... I feel a promotion to the Premier in our first attempt this season would be too soon.

We are not ready. I also dont feel the current ownership will invest to the right level to keep us up if promoted .

Dont want to be another yoyo club tbh
If we do go up we have to believe we have the nucleus to be better than the other two promoted teams so in reality we only have to improve enough to finish higher than ONE other club..... simple really.

he aint dead wood though thats so harsh

Doesnt mean I think he will end up being good enough, but he is extremely young and I like that Mowbray hasnt just ignored him and has tried to coax performances out of him

Dajaku is still young and he has something about him.

When he first arrived I thought his best position was right wing but most of the opportunities seem to have been given playing either left or centrally.

I guess the competition is greater on the right.

We're currently 10th, and 8 players from that squad have had spells out injured, including our whole strikforce.

A fully fit squad and we'd genuinely be a play off team.
A fully fit squad is a rare situation for any football club, we should recruit with the assumption that 20% will be unavailable at any given time.
