Saudi Arabia wants its investors to own Manchester United and Liverpool

There are probably only 3 clubs (ManU, Liverpool, Arsenal) who have ever been able to afford to turn down interest from Russian gangster-oligarchs or Middle East petro-states - and the fans of those clubs know that. Those same 3 clubs, along with Spurs, started this whole money-marketing- control unholy trinity back in the late '80s.

What like arsenal whose major shareholder was now sanctioned Russian oligarch Alisher usmanov who then invested in Everton?

He's talking about private Saudi ownership so different to the mags who are owned by the government.
That’s is literally what it says, but remember they also literally said the Sawdi State don’t own The Mugs - the PIF do, even though the chairman is the PIF is MBS (the head of the states)…….the literal logic of words can be compelling but just look beyond them at the reality.

Just been speaking to my Liverpool supporting mate and he's fine with Saudi owners as long as they throw money at it to keep them at the top table.

He also would be fine with the Super League as long as they are in it

and had they bought sunderland, i doubt, it would even be metioned on this forum, we would all be looking forward to our days in the champions league, and winning everything.
I think there’s plenty on here and a lot more that aren’t that would disagree with you. Then again you never know how people will react until it happens but I’d like to think that overall our moral compass is more reliable than our fucknut, sycophant friends up the road

Ah yes, that summer tournament the World Cup, being played in the middle of winter, in a country which has one of the worst human rights records in modern times. The last bastion of anti-corruption, shining like an unimpeachable beacon, impervious to Arabian blood money.
 You have to laugh.

You reckon this friendly, has something to do with that, interesting point.

Could well be, a private investor might be looking to buy a stake in SAFC. Sartori could be over there on personal business, not just political.
Aye, and the government could never support a private business to succeed in such a purchase as that would be WRONG!

Not at all, there would be a stronger argument for it.

I wouldn't be surprised if that's the end game and I'd let them go and play their closed shop "super league"

Give the fa a chance to reset the leagues without clubs who chase success needing to be funded by a nation or a multi billionaire
Not sure what end game is,but this latest move is part of strategy to host the 2030 World Cup in Saudi with Egypt & Greece..No doubt a Petition will emerge to support this in North East with certain MPs signing it.
