Sunderland will face Saudi Arabian opposition Al Shabab in Friendly (poll in Parsnip)

To be honest this thread is just typical if any fan base. You have a section of fans who will back their club on whatever decisions they take. If we were bought out by PIF tomorrow the same fans happy with us playing this friendly would also be supportive over PIF buying us out. We shouldn’t be touching this game with a bargepole.

I don’t think anyone has explained their reasons for being annoyed about this other than claiming it’s an outrage.

I wonder if the reaction would have been the same had Newcastle still been owned by Mike Ashley
if the club we are playing is ownd byt eh saudi state..then its helping that state achieve its aims..

It absolutely does though. Your reply is the typical stock response of someone who is swimming against the tide of opinion.
Except it really doesn't. Its the same when the fannies on here want a manager sacked. You go to the match and the majority of level headed fans there normallly don't. This place attracts the extremes of opinions all the time and is not, at all, a true representation. Same goes for social media.

👍I've just had automated reply from SAFC/ Chris Waters saying he's on annual leave till dec 6th convenient and he has no access to email thought today was his last work day obviously he can't access email in Dubai too busy watching us v Saudi United
The automated response I got yesterday said nothing about being on leave just that it could take up to 5 working days to get a response. So the auto response has been changed since then....

As I have said the voting should have been made public. This season has seen some posters on here throwing the toys about after any/every defeat, that will never change. If we lose v Millwall create a poll as to whether Mowbray should be sacked, at least 90% will say no he should not. Would those 90% be fannies just because they post on here, is their opinion somehow extreme and not valid. I go the games (I am guessing you do too), season card holder, missed around 1 home game per season for the last 44 years, but I also post on here. Last time I looked 400 people had voted against this fixture, within that 400 the overwhelming majority will be levelheaded fans.

but 400 is a tony tiony minority of the the fanbase..its probably less than one per cent of the people who have gone to a match this season at home even..

So what, the poll is hidden away on the parsnip board. Of those that have voted over 70% are against the game, the pro-game will certainly be riddled with mags that infest this place, I currently have over 50 of them on ignore. Do you not understand how polls and sampling work. What's it got to do with you anyway, I have been to well over 1,000 SAFC games how many have you been to? No-one gives a shit about your opinion pal.

‘But it’s ok because Disney, Uber, Boris, England human rights issues’

‘Nobody would care if it wasn’t us’

‘people or just jealous’

The amount of people, who were dead against this sort of thing, who are now backing it because of a f***ing friendly is mental.

I’m against the club banning money let alone cosying up to the Saudi’s 😂

One pretend one he realised several months after he didn’t actually attend iirc.

I am prepared to engage in reasoned dialogue with fellow fans but I am not being told what to think by that pink trouser wearing gonk.

ah so you need to choose..do you think the opinions of all fans are equal..or is there a hierarchy of fans based on lentgh of sevrice or games attended?
only after you clarify that can you comment on whether the club should deploy majoritarianism in its attitude to fan engagement or not.

Over reaction? We have a thread called Sportwashing about our filthy neighbours, which has amassed over 8k posts. They are correctly called out and vilified in that thread for not holding their hands up to the obvious links to the murderous regime.

We organise a friendly with a team with obvious links to the very same murderous regime, and fans being concerned about that are “overreacting”. I’ve seen double standards on here in the past, but this takes the biscuit. Jesus man.

I’ve missed something, just tell us all what the obvious links to the murderous regime are please.

The views of actual safc fans carry the precise same weight. You aren't an safc fan at all so your view on playing a fixture with a saudi side is the same as any other views you have on OUR club, unwelcome.

When were these halcyon days when clubs listened and acted upon their supporters’ wishes?

Have any of the fans’ representative group actually told the club that there is a general feeling that we don’t want us to play this match?

define "actual"...
Ok I will spell it out, whose opinion on SAFC's matters will I listen to and value and whose will I discount:

1. Lifelong Sunderland fan and season card holder - tick
2. Arsenal, City or mags fans etc - no
3. Someone who appeared on here just when the Madrox clowns took over safc, has never been to see safc play, constantly derails threads about our club - no, equal weighting with those in category 2 above.
