Guaranteed within a few paragraphs of somboreo posting, he'll say 'I've been going to the match since 72'. Thinks this gives him the right to defend his new overlords at every opportunity. Most of the lads I go with have been going since the mid 70’s. Much more organised now, but Perelee and surrounding areas I would say 70/30 red and white.
Fair assessment, not too many in the villages you mentioned, but still the odd handful. There’s actually a few in Trimdon I go with.In truth, I don't know because I do other things with my life now.
Back in the mid to late '80s, we merged with a school from over there and the lads that came over were from Blackhall/Horden way.
We were very surprised to find they had a few mags among them. I can honestly say that I can't remember one mag in my year who went to Wellfield school (lads from Wingate, Shotton, Trimdon, Wheatley Hill, Thornley), so it was a surprise to find a few followed them from Blackhall/Horden way and they went to the matches.
Peterlee was a new town and so you would have had all sorts of types moving in there, but a couple of miles West of Peterlee I didn't know anyone in my year who followed them although there were a few a few years older from Wingate (they went to the matches also).
Having said I don't know, I moved back here after going to university and living away for a good while. It may be 30% in Peterlee/Blackhall/Horden, but it's definitely not 30% in the villages I mentioned. Driving around to go to shops and the like, I can't remember the last time I saw a mag top. And, the buses still go 'round here to SAFC. There remains no bus to Newcastle matches and I can't remember passing someone who looked like they were waiting for a service bus to take them to a Newcastle match.
All the time. Your constant criticism of people who criticise the Saudis is defending them. You think the Saudis are great cos there is a phoney truce in the Yemen ( fighting is still going on) . Even blokes you think like you think you are an arsehole. I bet they snigger behind your back ,when you say for the 1000th time 'I have been going to the match since 1972......'Ha, he knows me, I know for a fact he wouldn’t have said that.
If you’re one of his old boys, you’ll know me.

I knew you would hold strong Bill lad.Felling is still predominantly red and white as is Gateshead, quality not quantity is what counts.
Not judging by the looks i get when i’ve got my SAFC shorts on in Asda, altho that cud just be my legs on showFelling is still predominantly red and white as is Gateshead, quality not quantity is what counts.
Good support in Amble, Newbiggin by the Sea and Swarland.Plenty in Ashington, Morpeth and Bedlington.
By the same token I would think you would not have to move far from Middlesbrough to find Sunderland fans eg Billingham. Close to Sunderland in South Tyneside is Boldon where the accent is more Wearside than Tyneside ( in my view ) and yet I would not like to bet that Sunderland fans outnumber Newcastle. Probably 60 -40 Newcastle ? Anyone in Boldon out there to help me out on this ?I remember driving through Whitburn after a derby game. There was a few mags tops outside of the Grey Horse pub (now the coop). You really don't have to go far outside of Sunderland to find them.
That’s bollocks - Know loads of loads from Darlo, Aycliffe, Bishop, Peterlee who’ve been going since early 80s. Nowt plastic about them. In the early casual days there’d be as many boys get on the train at Darlo as there was at Central.

Newcastle a place to be seen club? What a load of rubbish. What life experience leads you to this conclusionDarlo Mags quite well known in the 70s/80s, as were Hartlepool, 20-30 strong group of handy lads. Plenty of Mags in Peterlee at the moment, enough to run a mini bus to home and away games. The Darlo Mags turned up at a Hartlepool v Darlington game in the early 80s and went into the Hartlepool end and scattered Hartlepool.
One thing I have noticed about the Mags recently, is they are fast becoming a A PLACE TO BE SEEN CLUB, a bit like Chelsea in the late 60s/70s, when lots of actors etc took a shine to them. I know this from life experience and observations, having spoken to people who have been to Newcastle games when I have been passing through having been to a local non league game. Lots of people from down South who went to Uni in Newcastle then stayed on, daytrippers from down South chasing the attention, now that they could be soon be rivals to Man City.
I imagine if the question was ARE THERE ANY NEWCASTLE STRONGHOLDS LEFT, the answer would be more or less the same, but Sunderland supporters are definitely more real as opposed to the ever increasing fake support Newcastle are harvesting.
