If you have valid tickets for the last train and they cancel it then demand a taxi home from Northern. They legally have to, it's part of the ticket rules or provide accomodation for the night.
It's quite unknown.

I'd have even less confidence in a northern taxi turning up then I would a northern train.
Easier said than done, when most stations are unmanned. I remember doing that back in the day under nationalisation, taxi from Carlisle to Newcastle, driver even asked if I wanted to stop at the fish shop on the way back. Firms like GC are mickey mouse outfits, where one staff goes sick and they are fooked, only rail company I know of, who wouldn't accept my mates ex railway employee rail permit. said it wasn't valid on their trains, even though it is part of a national agreement, he got his MP involved and got it sorted, cheeky gets.

2 coaches back on the 7pm - squashed in like sardines, some older blokes that were already on train got off it was that bad.
There was at least 10 in the toilet FFS, had to wait at one stop for someone to use toilet everyone had to get out/off train

Was late getting up and was on the 1240, only 2 carriages as well and standing room only from Hartlepool as usual, and no-one could get on at Seaham.
