Northern trains

Let me know @Cool for Catts honestly dont mind.
Thanks so much for your kind offer, mate, which is genuinely appreciated, but I'll be setting away to Sunland just after 10a.m, in order to meet my mates for a couple of pints and to pick up my season card, which I left with one of the lads, for the Rotherham game, which I couldn't get to, because of work.

I really don't mind using buses, but I don't like the time they take, to get to and from Sunderland.

Happy to just fetch you home if you like. Might even do a pint after if the hitchhikers paying! 😉

is the X7 not an option?? Googled it and found timetable, thought that would get us up in one go but its now not on GNE website?
As other have said utterly bollocks, 2 buses to make this journey, really pissed off

if you can get to smoggy there’s a direct national express to Sunderland but you have to book in advance takes 35 minutes

Said I wasnt doing it, but kids said it will be 'fun, and an adventure'......X10 to Peterlee (with a 40 min wait - any pubs nearby??), X6 to Sunderland....
Same journey on way back - pretty much 2 hours to do the 30 miles
Pretty much every home Boxing Day we’ve played since the SoL opened.
Always a good excuse with it being xmas to book a hotel and stay over tho - doesnt quite feel the same for a mid-season game

2 hours 30 is a joke! So bad! Surely there has to be a quicker bus route?

Well, reporting back on bus situation - wasnt that bad actually!
Got off at Peterlee TC on way there, jesus its an absolute dump like, makes Stockton look like Covent Garden!
Didnt have time to get to wetherspoons as kids wanted subway and no pubs next to bus station would let kids in (didnt even realise in this day and age this was still a thing!)
1127 left Norton, arrived Sunderland 1330
Way back a lot busier leaving sunderland, but got off at Dalton park instead to grab a family friendly pint in that pub..
£12 family day ticket as well, so not expensive.
Train still a lot easier like, but I wouldnt be put off if had to do it again
