Nord stream

It’s very rare subsea. But I agree it does happen. This has to be intentional.

Im guessing any explosives would have been deployed using ROVs, sophisticated and well planned as you say. Have they confirmed it’s natural gas? They could have purged the lines? No idea.
Yes, an ROV would be the simplest answer, and it should be easy to track vessel movements in that area over the past 48 hours, especially those equipped with an ROV?

BOPs are used to shut wells down and the annulus to protect the topside. Not sure what the set up is on a pipeline transferring from one country to another. Would imagine it is similar
no BOP on transmission lines, just valves (flow control/shut off)

Thought that was the case when I typed that reply to earlier post. Cheers

Agreed. Most incidents on subsea lines are caused by anchors, which would be a more basic means of attack, but wouldn’t explain the explosion.

All in all extremely bizarre. Hopefully not a precursor to something else.

Thanks , there's that many bots on here am getting paranoid
Mind you , its not like Fox to miss a chance to slag Joe.
No problem. I can’t believe I posted anything from Fox……..

A lot of people don’t understand how complicated the whole Nordstream project is.
Nordstream are just the operators of the pipeline, a Swiss consortium made up of Russian, German, French, Austrian and Dutch interests.
The gas is owned by Gazprom, who also own 51% of the pipeline, the other 49% is owned by German, French, Austrian and Dutch companies. They all get revenue from the transmission of the gas, probably based on ownership percentages.
They are all taking a financial hit in this. (Which also helps explain why some countries were more reticent to shut off the supply………..)
