Derbyshire v Durham 5-8 Sept. County Championship

I’m more interested as to how the umpire came to the decision to measure it. Was it a hunch? Or was he told by a member of the opposition?
An umpire is standing next to the non striking batsman for half the match so he'll become pretty good at judging an oversized bat with the naked eye. He also gets a good comparison on its thickness when the batsman takes his guard.
Derbyshire already been penalised this season for McKiernan using one so Derbyshire probably sensitive to the issue

We have too few players and we have too many inexperienced players. We choose, despite this, to operate at 60% of the salary cap. We sign the wrong overseas players to fill the wrong positions in the side. We've won one championship game all season and we stand now to be docked the points for that. We finished rock bottom of the one day cup group. We failed to get out of the T20 dribble group for the 4th consecutive year. Morale is so low that players don't want to play with injuries that they could probably play through. Morale is so low that we've been docked points for committing too many disciplinary offences..... and now we can't even ensure that players have the right kit
Is there anything at all in this shambles that North thinks might be partly his fault?

Professional cricketers are responsible for their own kit, not the club.
You make a serious allegation that "players don't want to play with injuries that they could probably play through".
Have you any evidence of this ? Which players ?

Agree, but do the club not have an obligation to check that the bats they use confirm to regulations? The umpire had his doubts using his naked eye,why didn't one of the coaches?
I have been surprised at times how long recovery times have taken for some injuries. Perhaps if the club updated members on players' rehabilitation such conspiracy theories on their recovery wouldn't arise.

I will accept this if you tell me you are "Medically/Physio trained"
Otherwise, how can you post that ?
This is when "conspiracy theories" flourish.

Sorry, I wasn't aware that I required medical training to express that surprise. Most sports followers are aware of recovery times for common sporting injuries; I'm also aware that the extent of particular injuries varies, hairline or compound fractures, varying levels of hamstring strains or tears. Presumably some recent injuries have been more complicated than originally diagnosed and reported.
Feel free to accept or reject my opinions, the purpose of the forum is to express opinion.

I've been talking abou the size of the squad for a while, and now Chris Rushworth has left the field with an injury. Sigh.

It's almost like the possibility of players being injured didn't occur to them.
