Mowbray confirmed

I was expecting my boro supporting brother in law to take the piss about this when I saw him Sunday, but he was genuinely full of praise.

Contract seems a bit long, but I'm pleased the club acted quickly in difficult circumstances and appointed a steady pair of hands for this level.
It'll take him part way through our first season back in the Prem though marra😁

Anyway good luck to him and us, but why have we offered him a contract and not a rolling one...anyone?
Apparently it was AN that wanted the one year rolling contract, he demanded the same when he was at Norwich and Preston.

He looks happy to be here. I think he'll do well for us without setting the world on fire. Consolidate in the league.

That will do for me.

Unfortunately a lot of supporters want to see the good ol’ days return when we could get high profile high quality players and managers who were “attractive” names to have. Err, hello? This is 2022 not 1999. Those days are long gone.

We are still working on the foundations of a bigger, better club. We haven’t yet got round to a fancy Velux window in the attic. That’s going to be much later down the line. Let’s just get someone who is embedded firmly into the ethos of the league and can get us embedded into that ethos too. We need to be playing at this level week in week out. And I think TM is the dude to do it.
I don't feel inspired whatsoever by this appointment but fingers crossed Tony can do a decent job.

Who would have inspired you? Dyche? Mourinho?

The rolling contract didn't bother me at all. We all knew about it.
It was the contractual obligation to let him speak to other clubs that was dangerous bit.
I could understand him wanting it while we were L1, but it should have been excluded immediately on promotion/

Sorry, distracted. Welcome Tony. You've got a cracking group of players to work with and the team spirit's excellent. Not as much depth as we'd like but you've got some real quality, and some who've got a lot more potential to be realised. Do us proud.

He was an obvious choice for our budget. He’s also available, comes without compensation, knows the area and has experience managing at this level.

As all do I hope this is a success, which for me means staying up this season. It’s a slog this league and we’re already looking leggy in games, I think he’s got a lot to deal with and it could go either way.
