Those home games where we’ve won erm none? I’ve also watched them and a point return of 2 from 9 isn’t play off form regardless of performance levels, survival is the aim this year, we are a newly promoted team and haven’t been in this league for a few year
From what I've seen, we are better than survival. We need to go into games with options off the bench and we'd be there or there abouts.

We quite clearly have zero ambition.

Year 2044 and safc are making a push for the play offs
I think that’s the not so subtle message the club have been trying to push for a while.
Getting out of League 1 asap but then we simply don’t have or aren’t prepared to spend the money to make us promotion contenders in this division.

I really don’t know how long people would tolerate the height of our ambition being mid table in the championship.

This season no problem but I think patience with sustainability would wear pretty thin if three seasons down the line having sold a few players for a profit we’re aspiring for tenth place in this league.

Would imagine so, TM usually played him when fit. How has he been for you guys? Was often injured for us before magically being fit when playing for Ireland. Decent player when he did play though
He’s been excellent and fairly pivotal for us in the good run of 20 games or so up to now under Neil.

He had an indifferent start and a poor middle of the season just gone but that’s in part attributable to Lee Johnson’s cavalier, gung-ho tactics that left him fairly severely exposed. He was also in and out with injuries during that period so never really looked match fit/sharp.

Already posted on it - think you can check my posts clicking my name. Not made many so not loads to go through. Think it's a decent appointment, did a lot of good for us. Not an exciting name , we felt the same. Good honest pro that tries to play good football, can spot a good player and likes to bring through the kids.
He’s been really good overall. What’s your take on the TM appointment?

Read my post, i said we could have easily won them. Nothing to be afraid of at all in this league with a few QUALITY additions and not squad fillers.
But we haven’t got these options at the minute so play off talk is daft if we bring some quality in then fair enough maybe adjust our target but as it stands playoff talk is way off

With this squad, even as it currently stands, we should be aiming to be in or around the playoffs. This appointment smacks of "we want to peak at mid table and you'll be happy with it". And the worst thing is, some people actually are.

We weren't going to challenge for promotion.

Squad was too thin. Our first XI can mix it with the best and we have spirit. But it's a long, hard slog of a season. We were set for mid table.

I think Alex Neil to Mowbray is probably worth about 5 league places. So I reckon we'll finish about 14th, 15th now.

And you know what: that's ok. Honestly. The wheels could really come off after something like that snake did to us on Friday. But with Mowbray, they probably won't. So yeah, I'd be annoyed with 14th, 15th on Friday. We looked set for better. But it's a massive blow and we need to focus on consolidating now. I am well behind a risk averse appointment. We can't go down again. Regroup in the summer.

Now, we need some players.
Wise words. Not going to disagree with any of that. I do think under Neil and if we got the French lad and a good CB, we’d have come pretty close to getting in the play offs. It’s mind blowing what’s occurred in the last 72 hours or so.

Canny start to the season for you lads. Be good to see you back where you belong.

Been very good this season, could’ve had 2 goals on Saturday but for Norwich bodies throwing theirselves in front of everything

This is the exact point I've been making mate. I think Mowbray will have us claer of safety but, its when he is rewarded for that ia when inertia will seep in. I can personally see a repeat of the early 90s which were, a cup run aside, particularly grim times.

Not a chance this squad as it stands gets anywhere near the playoffs.

Teams will quickly work out all you need to do is contain them for 75 minutes and then bring on a couple of fresh legs.

Also injuries to a couple of key players and we’d be right on the clarts.

I don't think that is the height of our ambition

Yes but once our transfer business has concluded, we should be able to bring on fresh legs as well.

Which is understandable. We've come from league one, we're not going to get a championship squad complete with strength in depth after 1 window.
