Rovers fan in peace

Just came to see what you all thought of the Mowbray appointment and share my experience of five years watching his teams.

Firstly he has a reputation as an attack minded coach who play free flowing football the “right way”. This is nonsense. It was the most boring football I can remember.

Secondly he will play players in random positions such as the Bradley Johnson false nine experiment , the sam Gallagher at right back and many other strange choices.

He is a players man. Tries to keep everyone happy dishing minutes and contracts out like toffee to the detriment of the team. He will talk about journeys and slow builds to buy him time to top his pension fund up.

He will start all this waffle about integrity and being honest and humble and talk to you decent hard working class folk . It’s all an act.

And finally don’t forget the Xmas death spiral and early cup exits where you won’t win a game after Xmas and you won’t make it to round three of any cup regardless of opposition. He openly admitted he doesn’t work on set pieces and never checks the league table as long as he is developing honest lads with good personality, this also means you get substitutions that aren’t based on what’s happening on the game but who hasn’t had minutes . He didn’t sign a player for us we needed because he wore ripped jeans.

When it inevitably goes tits up he will say he’d rather be with his wife and kids . Not after being sacked whilst still in charge.

The man is clueless and as the weeks go on the sound bites go from heart warming to cringe to seriously get him away from my club.

I genuinely wish you all well for the season. Always liked Sunderland as a club and fanbase and you don’t deserve this appointment.

Get ready to start scratching your heads
You watch then so fair enough.
However, Mowbray got you your highest league position last season since you dropped out of the PL having spent next to nowt.
Doesn’t sound half as bad as you’re describing.

Again as an outsider can I ask, as a newly promoted from Lg1 side, who you were expecting to get?
Some were good expecting potter from
Brighton man 😂

We have a model and a budget and not many gaffers which are good are in that budget we have to work with our budget that’s the problem.

That’s not why the Michut signing hasn’t happened (yet) is it?
No but the fact that PSG wanted another clause putting in an already agreed contract dosnt matter -it’s because Michut knows Mowbray and dosnt like his style of football !

Another blackburn fan

They didn't like, Alex Neil was an excellent coach by all accounts. Mowbray is not a great coach, luckily he will have zero input on transfers or contracts
We’ve also got a good group of players who ran Norwich close yesterday with canning in charge.

mowbray might do alright with them as the team spirit looked intact.

Blackburn decided to go in a different direction. Not sure why we are going for their past.
Why not someone like Manning who the team can grow with?

Mick Buxton was a safe pair of hands as was Parkinson
I see that argument.

Conversely we have a very young squad, inexperienced at this level, adding an inexperienced manager may simply be too much.

It’s not champ manager sometimes

Just out of curiosity when should we be ambitious?

Shall we just settle for survival for the next decade?

Or could we use the feel good factor from last season, relatively small debt and group of young exciting players as a catalyst to kick on?

It saddens me how many of our fans think we should just be happy with survival. We’ve shown so far this season we can more than hold our own.
We have just spent far to long in league one after a stunning fall from the premiership.

Our relative success was built on sand, we need solid foundations and time to build. If we get to the premier league out aim will be survival unless a country or Elon musk buy us. We need stability and time

Speakman is facing huge questions now... nothing about mowbray ndicates progress .. this is a backwards step that looks like a panicking, what data support him. He's a mid to lower level championship nahager who over achieved last season
What did you think we were likely to achieve this season? If we’d got any higher than mid table championship I’d have been stunned - even with Neil at the helm. Over the past decade, more league one teams have been relegated than finished top half. This was always a season where we lose more than we win. The upheaval of the last few days only made things more precarious.
