Tony Mowbray Rumour

It would be such a dull appointment, I think he would keep us up no issue ( we look like we will anyway), but it’s just an appointment that feels like it hasn’t got any growth in it, like we would have to get someone else in a year or 2 to push again.
Exactly what most thought of the AN appointment.
Be honest, it was.

Patience! Knew getting off to a good start would encourage unrealistic expectations. Judge our progress by the way we are competing and as long as the points keep us in a safe position sit back and enjoy this season. As long as we are competing, the kids will be developing and we will be making progress. We're rebuilding from the foundations up.

That’s sort of the point of the system we have though. When a manger reaches his ceiling we can move them on and bring in someone who will be attracted to us at a hopefully higher level, with a higher ceiling. Constant improvement and managers who can be replaced without upending the team or style of play.

The difficult thing for me is I think AN had us playing well above ourselves and was very good tactically whereas I’m not sure we will get the same X factor from Mowbray. Can’t imagine he’s much of a motivator.

If it is to be TM time will tell. Maybe these players don't need that much motivation. Neil's gone and I thought they were fantastic to a man today. I was worried the heads would be down but not a bit of it. Mowbray perhaps suffers from an unfortunate tone and appearance but his style and philosophy isn't removed from how we play. Definitely also a safe pair of hands which is what's needed right now I think.

The ambition, or lack thereof, shown with this appointment is a damning indictment of the ownership and decision makers at SAFC.
Same goes for the fans that are trying to justify it.
Happy to just stay up and make up the numbers. Small time mentality and frankly pathetic. The mags get slated for being delusional but at least they set high expectations and don’t settle for below par mediocrity.
Having a solid season and finishing mid-table would be considered a successful season. We were rooted in league one for four years and finished 5th. I wouldn't say there is a lack of ambition. Just a realistic approach to making progress.

Keep us in this division, which is what we should be aiming for, consolidation.

Now, whats your answer to my question, what exactly is Sunderlands level?
I think your fighting a losing battle here mate. Gronkowski clearly has a vendetta against Mowbray for some reason. Although not my choice either I think he’d keep us up which is realistically what we should be looking for. People on here calling him at a personal level and not on his managerial ability need to grow up.

I only watched Blackburn twice last season, once when they played away to Preston and they were superb. Think it was 3 or 4 nil half time and they ripped them to shreds. The second was home to Bournemouth and they were outclassed.

And the season after is that the same aim? Because that’s pretty much all he’s ever done, he’s certainly not ‘one for the future’.

Underwhelmed
After what seems like an eternity in League One yes. That it the aim for next season.

Or are you one of the ones who EXPECT us to be back in the Prem within 2 seasons?

Just chill mate, that's not Plan A. You really need to temper your expectations.
